First; TVHeadend/Kodi.... Nah. Given up on that - 'non-tech'; its horrible. 'Tech' - a few reasons but mostly that it is buggy. It is actually a real shame as it does have potential and promises a lot (was great to have Kodi on my phone and be able to watch live/recordings...

I should point out that the developers have not formally left the project, and development has not formally stopped. The developers have instead simply "faded away", gradually spending less and less time on MP2 until the present, when they spend no time on MP2. In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre).
The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA).
The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...

Of course, I think it's not difficult, add fields to the database, and then change everything in the user interface for the rating, and not break anything. I don't have time for this yet, maybe it will appear after the 25th, but that's not certain.
