    AW: iPiMP 5.1.0 is released

hi cheez, again nice plugin. I really enjoy the new features. I must say that I miss one thing in the TV section. If I scroll through the tv channels I would love to choose between streaming and watching on my HTPC

    It does have Remote Control

Having rummaged through Cheezey's code (trying to find out how to start TV on the PC not a smart phone) I saw that it DOES have key presses, so it is a remote control.

Does the phone app not give you that? I looked at this but it's a bit more complex than I needed for what I was doing, so I haven't used it (and I don't have an iPhone, just a Galaxy S :D).

OH, Cheezey, I haven't had a single reply about starting Radio/TV using code - even offering money!!!

It must be a stupidly intractable problem, I know the code you've got doen't [quite] work - wonder if anyone will ever solve it.

I might have to end up making a 'special' or doing key presses..... ho hum.

It's on the to do list, tried & failed once or twice before but I only knock things off the to do list when it gets to 10 :D

The keypress code is in the process plugin but doesn't work - so it's not used by the iPiMP app, again though that's another thing on the to do list. Trouble is this thing is so big now it's hard for one part time semi-dev with little spare time to do it all.

    that's good to hear!
    I have time! :D

One question regarding the streaming section. At the moment the client has to be switched on to stream tv-series etc, but I have a server where the ipimp webapp runs on and where all my files are. Now it would be great to stream stuff without the client on! :)

I know that the database is on the client. Would it be somehow possible if I save my DB of TVSeries on my Server, configure my client to get the data from there and also reconfigure iPimp to get the data from there?

I'm afraid not, iPiMP (well the MPCC process plugin which is what iPiMP communicates with) uses TV Series APIs rather than direct DB access, so it needs TV Series plugin available and running - which also needs MP running.

You need to download the dxva compiled ffmpeg.

Thanks Cheezey I grabbed it and replaced the existing FFMpeg with the DXVA version. Do I have to do anything to enable it? My CPU usage seems to have gone up lol. I am running an ATi HD5760 which supports DXVA 1 and 2 so I'm assuming I have missed something here.

    EDIT/UPDATE:
I've been trying to learn more about the DXVA support in FFMpeg and it seems that even though it is supported it doesn't actually do anything within FFMpeg itself, just formats the data in a way that can be sent to the GPU for the work to be done, it seems that the application itself has to direct the data through the GPU for the processing to actually take place. I'm sure I'm not explaining it very well...

"All libavcodec support is outputting the "right" data to send to the video card.
You still need to call your video driver API to send it to the card. I suggest you look
at some media player source code (VLC, for ex.) to see how to do it."

    Does this sound right?
