did you install apache on port 80? because 80 is http. so forwarding port 80 to your htpc (with solid ip, not dhcp) an everything should work fine.

The guide states your MediaPortal client has to be registered with iPiMP.
Do I need to add my phone or the PC running mediaportal to the client list ?

I have two problems !

In the Music-section i became a FUbar Error on the Genre view, when i will be choose a Album. But all the others is wokring, like Year, album, Interpret... only the genre views make this problem.

The other problem is MptvSeries and Movingpictures. Whe I will be play a movie or Serie Mediaportal will be crashed. But sometimes a message that the Video can't play is showing (Audio and Videocodec problem) But there is no Codec problem because all the Movies and Series are working in Mediaportal when I used the normal direct way over a Keyboard, i hope you know what I mean. Sorry for my Englisch

Just tried this on my Sony Ericsson and it works fine when connected to my home network by wifi but not when I turn off wifi and use 3g.
Is there something else I need to do to be able to use it remotely over 3g ?

Have you read the wiki? There's a section on just this.

Remember you only need to forward the port you selected when installing iPiMP (this is the port used by the Apache web server), you should not forward the MP client plugin ports (55667/8).

Success !!! :D
To be honest, I've been @rseing around with this so long, I'm not sure how but it's now working on my external IP.
A few things I've done are re-install ipimp and added an IP address to my "Hosts" file in the system32 folder.
Fantastic !!
Great program by the way.

Edit :
Think I've discovered the problem although I still don't quite understand it.
If I access the ipimp login on the PC which is running mediaportal and the server, I can access ipimp on any computer/phone using the external IP address.
But If I close the browser on that PC I can no longer access ipimp on the external IP ???!!!???
Anyone got any ideas why this might be ?

for those having trouble with the router setup :

i have to set up in my router "virtual server":
    the private port as 80
the private IP 192.168.0.6 (this is the ip of my pc running mp tv server+ipimp)
    the public port as 49152
    Protocol Type TCP
then in the mp config under plugins and "MPControl" as 55667
use the iphone browser url : your routers WAN IP (the one used by your modem to connect to the internet - or check whatsmyip.org
    port 49152
    eg. 123.123.123.123:49152

    wha la

    Think I've finally solved this.
One of the config files in the Apache folder was set to listen on all IPs and port 8080 for some reason.
I set it to listen on my external IP and port 80 and I'm now getting access over the internet on my external IP every time !
