Thanks for the quick reply. I shall try it out as soon as it is available. I am using the IRServer in preference to MCE replacement plugin on a day-to-day basis now, because it works so well already.

Don't know if this will be of any help. I have just tried the MCE replacement plugin without changing back to the old driver. In this setup, the standby and resume work as they should. Obviously, with the IRServer plugin disabled (but not uninstalled) and IRserver,Translator and IRTray deactivated (but not uninstalled). Hopefully, this may help eliminate something from the equation.

IR Server stops working after some minutes/hours

I've a "strange" issue...
I had a test system working perfectly using TV3 (single seat) and IR Server (TV3 Blaster Plugin only) with an usb-uirt device to control an extrernal STB.

Then, as all were fine, I decided to build my "definitive" home system: One tv-server with all the tv-cards in it and running also MP client (not the "main" client) and other system as the main client (tv 40", digital audio...)
Since all seemed to work ok I was very happy... but...

My usb-uirt device / ir server stops to work after some minutes (sometimes hours) after every restart of the tv-server system.
I've found a method to return usb-uirt to work:
1. Stop ir-server
2. Reset usb-uirt driver
3. Start ir-server

BUT If I stop ir-server and try to send blasting using lrnhelper.exe it works on every try (I've tested it during 48 hours, until now).

I don't know if the problem is really ir server related or usb-uirt related or none of them. But I'm very frustrated

Can I do some additional test to know which is the real problem?

Hi Antoni,

I will hook up my USB-UIRT and do some testing overnight. I have made a small change in the USB-UIRT code recently, so maybe that's the cause.

I will see what happens overnight and hopefully post a new test version by the end of the weekend.

repetable crash with some IR command

Hi Aaron,
first of all thanks tor this wonderfulplugin, I've tried girder before and I left because of the quite complex interface,
with the MCE repalcemnt I can do everything I need, but it's very simple:

I'm getting reptable crashes of irservver when blasting IR commands to my Thomson Dolby Souround.
The crash occurrs both with the "test" funcion of the learning window and with the command line irblast command

My configuration is:
MB INTEL WHESTCHESTER WITH I965G chipset
integrated audio and video card
CD 6420 processor
1 gb ram
Windows MCE 2005 (with all updates until the last month) with MCE 2005 remote and receiver
Skystar 2 DVBS card
Asus Mycinema Hybrid card
MP 2.3.0 RC1 vithout SVN's

At the moment I'm using the 21-08 release of the suite, with the original MCE driver (If I install the replacemnte driver MP doesn't works at all, I didn't investigated that...)

Hi Ettore,

Can you tell me more about the crash, there is nothing in those log files to explain it. Does a message box pop up? Or does the program just stop running... ?

If there is a message box maybe you can capture it and attach it.

Hi aaron,
unfortuantely I get only the standard window about an "Illegal operation and error reporting to microsoft" in italian language

At the moment I solved the problem going back to the mce replacement plugin that seems to work and so I've uninstaled the suite

In case you can try to blast the posted IR files from your computer using MCE receiver/blaster, also to check if the crash is due to some particualr configuration/conflict on my PC

Hi Aaron,

I love your work with the MCE replacement plugin. I have had minor issues, but it has generallly been working fine. I can´t get the IR server suite to work however. It just refuses to learn IR-commnads. It learnd one command when I restarted the IR-server after opening the Media-Portal setup, but not more than one. I have a WinXP machine with MP 0.2.3 RC2. The error log is attached. I hope this can help you with the development.

May be I've discovered what is happening with my USB-UIRT and IR Server:

If the USB-UIRT is connected in a USB root hub with no other devices, it works OK. If I try to connect other devices in the same hub, IR Server stops working as described in my previous post!

It seems that the problem is not related to IR Server but to USB-UIRT powering (!)

I'm sorry. IR Server is the king again!

Hello,

I just wanted to post your solution, but you were earlier ^^ I have the same Problem:

When my Logitech mouse+kb receiver and the MCE receiver is connected over USB in one of the 4 ports each on my computers back ->
After a few Minutes it stops working. (just the mce receiver, not the logitech)

The led in the receiver still lighting if I use the remote, but there wont be any actions on the screen. (same @ yours?)

If I use it without the logitech receiver there is no problem at all!


I had that problem a few weeks before but it seemed to be fixed after a while (dunno why). But now I changed the position of the computer, pulled all cables off -> new position -> plug in all cables -> and the problem is back again.

Ill try it now with an external usb hub! thanks!
