As a MP noob i have a question about the mode of operation of the CI Interface with MP. Can I use the CI interface which is attached to my KNC1 Station DVB-C card to encrypt channels that i receive with my Hauppauge Nova SE2 DVB-S Card, or is this unpossible?

Hi Cemetery,

I think this will not work. Cross-card decrypt IMHO is impossible.

Cheers
mpFrank,

EDIT:: So Frodo sure is right.... I only wonder why this will not work with my KNC1 DVB-S (without CI) and my TT-3200-DVB-S with CI. If my TT-3200 card is busy the KNC card will not decrypt channels with the CI-module of the TT....

    hrmm

    i should read better;-)

    1) Yes the KNC CI works (if you have the msvc*.dlls)
    2) No. cross-card decrypting wont work. Its impossible with BDA drivers

    Hi,
what are these msvcr*.dlls you are talking about?

Are we talking about msvcr71.dll and msvcrt.dll?

Or are there more DLL's in this regard?

    Then I'd refer to:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...s/vclib/html/_crt_c_run.2d.time_libraries.asp
What is the difference between msvcrt.dll and msvcr71.dll?

The msvcrt.dll is now a "known DLL," meaning that it is a system component owned and built by Windows. It is intended for future use only by system-level components. An application should use and redistribute msvcr71.dll, and it should avoid placing a copy or using an existing copy of msvcr71.dll in the system directory. Instead, the application should keep a copy of msvcr71.dll in its application directory with the program executable. Any application built with Visual C++ .NET using the /MD switch will necessarily use msvcr71.dll.

Here it tells us, that only a msvcr71.dll should be released by an application while msvcrt.dll is delivered with Windows. Given that I'd expect Mediaportal to deliver a msvcr71.dll, if any.

But as far as I understand since MP is .NET, it should not need an own msvcr71.dll.

msvcrt.dll on the other hand is delivered with Windows. Getting a "most recent" version of that, I'd think that having all SP's and updates by Windows Update makes me being up to date.

Apart from delivering a set of recent DLL's with MP, what strategy do you suggest to get these by myself?

Or are we talking about a whole different set of DLL's?

    Thanks in advance,
    Andre

It's a great pity, because my cable provider change to an other signal encryption that is not compatible with CI modules. So i must use DVB-S to receive my pay tv, but my CI module is connectet to my DVB-C card because currently is no working CI interface for my Hauppauge DVB-S Nova SE2 available.

... lets buy an oter DVB-S card :(

    nope, still doesn't work.

I offered assistance already. I repeat that.

What can I do? I can tell you my current configuration, of course, but maybe there is a special debug versiion I could test. I'm a developer, too, even though I have done nothing in C#, yet. at least I could do some tracing if you tell me what to install. I havre msdn universal, so ide stuff shouldn't be a problem.

just let me do something! ;)
