Will do some more testing this week, I think it's because we now keep the stream open all the time which AmbiBox doesn't like however Kodi does it mostly the same but will see if we can port some more code.
In the meantime we could test some things to pin point why it sometimes works:

    - Rapidly stop / start video
    - If you have the AtmoLight context menu try to disable and re-enabling the leds during video playback to check to see if it comes back on all the time.
    - Music with VU meter enabled.

    Hi @Rick164

Sorry it me a bit to come to test.
    - I did a stress test start/stop and it worked flawless.
    - The disapling of Atmolight and then re-enabling did not make it stop
    - The music Vu meter could not make it stop.

I don´t know why or how but i could not make the light stop working as of before, with the above test. The above test was done with live-tv, tvseries, onlinevideos and movingpictures plugin.
So restarted mediaportal and played 2 trailers through the trailers plugin, and then it stopped working. And no matter what i did i could not get the light back on.

I've made to log files first one with test and second with result of the lights stopping. Also i've notice with this test build of atmolight, it seems to stress the system alot more, could it be from the debug mode?? it has some impact on CPU...

    Thanks for testing (y)
Do you have these options enabled in the AtmoLight configuration window:

    Start AmbiBox with MediaPortal
    Stop AmbiBox with MediaPortal

If not could you enable both and see if it reconnects after Mediaportal relaunches?

Noticed the additional CPU load since Mediaportal 1.12 and latest AtmoLight on my machine as well so might not be related to test version, did drop a slight 5ms delay though that shouldn't have a big impact but let me know if you don't have the increase in CPU under the regular latest version of AtmoLight :)

Attached latest test build which does disposing Ambibox a bit different as well.

    Hallo @Rick164

Yes i have the start Ambibox eith Mediaportal enabled and also the stop option. just did a little testing with the new build, and it actually lasted a little longer, about 5 trailers or so then it stopped again. I could change the effect to static, but upon chaning back to live mode it did nothing :-( .... I've made some screen dumbs, just to make sure i did not do anything wrong in the config.

[DOUBLEPOST=1435252941][/DOUBLEPOST]Also tested the CPU usage... And i can confirm that the newest official build of atmolight and MP 1.12 it's the CPU a little harder. I really see it if i've run the MP for a while, the it becomes harder to change the menus and just a little more jerky, if you know what i mean....

But on the CPU front Atmolight 1.16.1.12 and 1.16.1.18 are almost the same, and it really never hits above 30%. I've also captured the error log done with the official build. 1.16.1.12... and it was empty..

Yeah think the new UI grabber is decreasing the responsiveness somewhat so that definitely needs looking at as right now MePo feels a bit sluggish at times and also uses more resources, will see if we can add some toggle for it to test it a bit further to make sure it's not related to 12.0 pre-release.

Settings are fine so that should work alright, we can try increasing the reconnect delay but that shouldn't matter much.
Noticed in the logs it couldn't re-create the connection so that will should help track the remaining bug, will release a new version this weekend which I hope will finally fix Ambibox completely :)

I've been running a while now, with the official build of atmolight, and it seems to have a big impact on performance.. It affects the cpu usage, and plugins like fanarthandler... As soon as disabled atmolight it all seems normal, performance vice... Maybe I see it a bit more jerky cause of the connection problems with ambibox, I don't know...

Will release the 2 new versions a bit later (probably late this week) with a few changes, one is gonna be based on the previous AtmoLight which I have been running for a few days which seems a lot less resource hungry and overall more smooth.
The other one requires Mediaportal 1.12 (with framegrabber support) so we can compare it.

Agree that it does affect perfomance, even om my I7 machine there's an 10% CPU increase on average usage for the Mediaportal process according to ProcessLasso so we need to at least add an option to disable the Framegrabber ("UI" ambilight).

With which version of AtmoLight and MP did the increase in usage start? Is it an issue with 1.12pre and onwards, or is it an issue with 1.11pre and onwards? Any specific AtmoLight version where it started?
There is no way to disable only the UI framegrabber, either the framegrabber is on, or off. Completly. Which means, no MP livemode for videos aswell.

The feature to also use UI frames (menu, gui and so on) was added in 1.11pre and it was improved in 1.12pre.

Mediaportal 1.12pre with current AtmoLight 1.6.1.12 (latest) was the first time I noticed it being less responsive when navigating UI, currently running Mediaportal 1.11 with AtmoLight 1.16.1.00 which seems to have normal CPU usage.
