Do you have any comments in using a SSD disk for timeshifting?
I agree with what you said already: it is a bad idea in the long run.

I'd be more interested to see your evidence for this statement:
Today I found out that my servers dedicated SATA disk was to slow for timeshifting of live HDTV. The picture glitches (about same time for all my network clients).

My understanding is that most people use RAM disks to get faster zap times, not to resolve issues with glitching.
Have you [for example] checked that your timeshift folders are not being scanned by real time anti-virus/malware software?
Do you know for sure that your signal quality is not the problem?
Are you sure that the timeshifting EPG grabber or HDD spin up/down is not causing the glitches?

Just made exeptions to my antivirus program not to scan my timeshifting disk

Yes, my S and S2 signals are fine
I'm not using EPG from my satelite (disabled) (just WEB EPG)
How do I change HDD spin up/down settings?
Just made exeptions to my antivirus program not to scan my timeshifting disk

I was hoping that you might say how you knew that the problem was caused by the HDD speed rather than answer my questions directly. From your answer it seems that there are things you might not be aware of or have not investigated. In other words, the problem might be HDD related... or it might not.

The suggestions I made above about signal quality, HDD etc. are just a few of many possibilities for glitch causes. I'd be happy to help you investigate further. If you want my help please share full log files so I can analyse the problem properly. :)

What proof do you have? I'm not trying to be rude. Just trying to understand what you've tested and how you've tested it.

    Okay.

How do I change HDD spin up/down settings?
    Windows power management.

Just made exeptions to my antivirus program not to scan my timeshifting disk
    Okay, good.

No problem, your not rude at all, your trying to help me:) I have tested my signals with an analog tester and adjusted my dish to the highest level.
I tried disabling my Antivirus program but the problem with glitches remains. changed my timeshifting back to my SSD disk (same as OS disk) and the problem disapears. I will try windows powermanagement for my timeshifting disk.
After I have done this, what logs (form my server) do you want?

Sorry that I didn't answer your first question. The reason I think this is HDD releated is that when I change the timeshifting folder from my SATA disk to my SDD disk the problem disapears.

I'd like to see MP and TV Server logs showing the glitches. So, please use the watchdog to grab logs:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

If you have TV Server on a separate PC then you can grab the logs from the server by opening TV Server configuration, clicking "open log directory" in the top left corner, then zipping and posting all the files in that folder.

    So to be clear...
It looks like C: is the SSD and T: is the other HDD.
In these logs, when you have glitches you're using T: for timeshift; when you don't have glitches, you're using C:\timeshift for timeshift
    Is that correct?

If we take the example of NRK1 HD...
    [2013-11-22 23:49:35,105] [Log ] [12 ] [INFO ] - dvbs: Tune:DVBS:tv:Telenor NRK1 HD Freq:10747000 ONID:70 TSID:70 SID:1039 PMT:0xB9 FTA:False LCN:10000 SymbolRate:25000 Modulation:Mod8Psk Polarisation:LinearV InnerFecRate:Rate3_4 DisEqc:None band:Universal Pilot:On RollOff:ThirtyFive

When you tuned it at 23:49:35 using one of your TBS 6981 tuners and C:\timeshift\ it seems like you had continuity errors... which should not be the case if the HDD is the only problem... because C: is your SSD. Am I right?

In other words if I have understood correctly I don't think that this is only an HDD problem.

I will do some more analysis later... but do you agree with this first comment?
