Maybe my explanation is not correct
When no video is playing then madVR is not used.
But as soon as a video is played, madVR is used for rendering GUI + VIDEO
That's how I imagined in the first place.
There certainly is flickering when only menu screen is shown, no video playing.
The problem may be related to which HW acceleration technique is used.
Normally, without madVR, I use Intel QuickSync. That's rather smooth, with the lowest CPU load. However, with madVR, QS gives about 1-2fps. Switching to DXVA2 Native, all seems to be good - just the menus flicker
Anyway, I was hoping someone managed to fiddle enough with this to figure out the best combination, which doesn't really seem to be the case... Maybe there is no true solution yet?
BTW, is this really the right topic to discuss, or is there a more appropriate one?
For now there is no other topic
Just to be clear lol.
The menu is flickering after you have started to play something (liveTV or video) even if the video is not visible.
Can you clean your logs and start the issue and post the log ?
Use watchdog tool and try with first option.
Thanks.
Not exactly.
All menu screens flicker, even when video is not playing. Examples are EPG screen, or TV/Recorded programs.
During playback, it's acceptable. Seeking is slower when using madVR, but otherwise quite okay.
What I can't recall by heart right now is, whether flickering appears before watching something. I am sure it's there after stopping liveTV or some recording.
I will gather logs as soon as I can.
If u are watching EPG but got TV playing in mini mode it will flash but it will not flash if TV is off. You can try it by going to EPG without starting TV.
At least this is how it was last time i tried it with my IGPU.
* improved Windows 10 HDR metadata support
* added new option "hack Direct3D to make 24.000Hz and 60.000Hz work"
* performance improvement with "trust DXVA" + "use D3D11 for presentation" * fixed: Intel GPU driver flickering bug with "use D3D11 for presentation"
* fixed: madVR(64).ax files were larger than necessary
* Intel: 10bit DXVA surfaces are now converted to 10bit RGB (instead of 8bit)
It says for D3D11 but it might work in our case too, nothing to loose in trying it.
Unfortunately i am too busy lately to do any madVR troubleshooting so if someone got the time it would be nice to know if this issue is finally resolved with the latest madVR release.
i use v91.10 since a week or so...great maintenance release
but the mepo menu flicker hasnt really changed with it and that igpu fixes seem to be for d3d11 usage only and some other flickering things...
btw. dont use d3d11 if you dont have to ^^
here my settings on a historic igpu 2500 its nearly flikka free
Could you test something for me. I suspect my htpc has a diver issue or some other (user) error
In video section > subtitle > select XYSubFilter.
MadVR as renderer.
My experience is, no matter what settings I put in MadVR, smooth video untill the moment the first subtitle is drawn. After this, frames are repeated / dropped and a visible judder is seen in the movie.
Same settings with MPC-HC subtitle renderer, issue is gone.
I just need to check if its only my system, or a combination error somewhere.
If you can reproduce, I will post logs.
(Sorry, using latest 1.17 pre, but I suspect the MadVR response might be similar as latest build from this thread/1.16Final)
Just for information purpose for the interested ones. I try to use Auto3D plugin, and like XYSubFilter to convert 2D > 3D subtitles.
