Dont ask me about details but madshi suggests DXVA CB even on D3D11, somehow in Native mode madVR has no access to some gpu texture buffers or something like that, as a result zoom settings and black bar croppin might fail.

I loved Native and with EVR i always used it but now with madVR i only use CB.

I think i know why it failed
I have a little improved the detection, so need a new Auto3D.dll and new MP bin
We will need to test regression against EVR too

Here we go : V345 (It grab and save the frame to a file (will be removed after) to know if the grabbed frame is not a old one).
I'm getting the same behavior that EVR (DXVA2 CB)

From what I understand:
- madVR IVTC, black bars detection, and HDR per-frame measuring, work on CPU not GPU so they can't access the image when using Native (I think that would be possible now with GPUs that have "unified virtual memory" or something - I don't know the official way Microsoft calls it - where you can access their memory from CPU, but code would have to be modified)
- in addition, Native D3D11 doesn't support deinterlacing yet, so cannot be used for many TV programmes.
- in addition, Native DXVA2 has blurred chroma on NVIDIA cards (but may not be always visible)

That's why madshi still recommends copyback. When he implements D3D11 deinterlacing I think D3D11 Native will be best if you don't need black bars detection (do people who don't have projectors really need this?) or IVTC (I only watch PAL so I just set LAV to forced weave for films, I don't waste CPU cycles that way ).
The best would be if LAV could use profiles like madVR (e.g. "if > 1080p then use Native else use Copyback)

I have the same problem. I thought it was because of my slow Core 2 platform but you've got an i7 so that is weird.

I'm using my HTPC on projector lol

Yep in DXVA-CB, it didn't use the GPU processor so it seems and my i7 is not enough powerful

those uhd hevc streams are pretty challenging, i use low mad scaling setting even with 1060 gpu on those

may try it similar or closer to the defaults should works

and i did a short run (out till the evening)with the latest v345
sadly it didn't do better than before, sbs sometimes, tab wont see attached screen series

also the native mode seems affected badly now, damn

Btw hevc needs hardware decoding...or else imho it's just not worth the power

Ok
So you need to test with the attached Auto3D.
Basically, it try to analyse the same image multiple time but if failed, it try again a new frame

Now on my PC i'm getting the same as EVR (sometimes it failed with DXVA2 CB from LAV Video)

I thought black bars detection was only useful for people with anamorphic lenses or matting, but I forgot it's also useful when scaling between 1080 and 4K as you waste processing power when scaling pure black.
