Yes, I havent heard much about this here either.

But I just been told that its not only MP and MeediOS talking about merging!
There is a third part involved aswell. Evolution Media Center
EMC stopped the developing due to lack of motivasion and time. I learned this few days ago..

It would be really usefull to merge the best of these three mediacenters, to create the Ultimate Media Center.

But.. nothing is decided yet, and from what I know nothing will be settled for atleast 5-6 weeks.

i really hope for the sake and benefit of us all the 2 or 3 parties as mentioned manage to cooperate at least and share knowledges or even better merge, cause this will benefit us all

I see this as a very good initiative.
Both parties have invested a lot of time into what they believed was the best thing to do.
Both parties have learned a lot and it is therefor not valid to only look at the past accomplishments/ideals to think ahead for the outcome.
Therefor, lets not discuss spagetti (although I do love it)and features of the current MP or meedio(s).

Writeup what you would think that is great, what would be the ideal app?
would it be the tv server of MP plus the messaging system (plugins system) of meedio? do we need compatability wit old mp skins? meedi skins? you name it!

Then we are going into the right direction, towards a mediacenter that I think will be great.

My #1 feature would be integration, the feeling of being a whole.
I do not want to see it is a pc we are using,
I want the GUI to be consistent and low maintenance
I want full Itunes compatability (using it as player so I can use bought songs and movies including browsing remote itunes libraries)
And keep it simple, do not try to please every single person onthe planet with special wish.

ah well, I could go on with simpler requests
But these are the basics.

We all want a great media system,
I can't imagine the 2 teams not getting an agreement and work hand in hand as one.

btw,
MeediaPortal sounds like a great name for the merger
or MeedioPortal....
