Re: Revision:24975 Hebrew problems

I found some problem with Hebrew under V1.1
On the TV schedule screen the day of the week in the upper left corner is not showing (see attached image).
If I change the text of the short day in "strings_he.xml" (id 657-663) to English text then the day will appear.
While playing TV or Video the skip steps do not appear. Nothing is shown, not the units ("sec", "min" etc) and not the numeric quantity (5,10 etc).
Only after changing "strings_he.xml" id 2997-2999 to English the step will appear.
Bob

Hi, Bob!
1) Open Your strings_he.xml by notepad,
2) Change characters="1456" to characters="1524"
3) Save as Unicode.
4) (optional) Clean skin cache.
5) If it helps You - post fixed file to the Submit: Localization of MediaPortal and DeployTool - MediaPortal Forum

Re: MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot:-02-06-2010 13-59h - Revision:24975.rar

I tried to install the latest SVN and followed the steps on the Wiki page. I installed the latest Version of the TV-Server (MediaPortalSetup_1.1.0_BETA-1_rev23491.exe) and afterward this latest SVN Snapshot. I installed only the TVEngine.
The current Database is MySQL 5.1 and the OS is Windows Server 2003 SP2.

When I try to start the configuration I get a socket error, I attached a picture of the error.
The meaning of the german text above means something like:

A connection could not be established, because the target machine refused the connection 192.168.0.5:31456

The TV-Service is running and the IP in the error message is the local one.

A 1.0.2 Version of MP runs just fine on the machine. The same error appears with the 1.1.0 Beta 1 Version.

Any help would be appreciated

EDIT: A solution to that error was posted in the forums. However this snapshot still seems to have this error, at least on Windows Server 2003.
The config files need to be renamed:

TVService.exe.config -> TVService.config
SetupTv.exe.config -> SetupTv.config

That error has been there forever. Devs probably dont spend valuable time on a fix since server editions of any kind are not supported!

Well, you're right, but a wiki entry somewhere would be nice if this is a problem that's around for ages and many people know about. Maybe I will write it in the wiki :)

btw. it runs smoothly now :)

Great, the 1524 did fix the problem.
There is no need to save the XML as Unicode, UTF-8 also works.
Now there is a need to turn on the "language contains right to left direction chars"

    Thanks,
    Bob

^ Tried private build SVN 25000 (btw. congrats to that jubilee ;)) and with that teletext works fine witout crashes, so I think this bug is solved.

For me no go !, not even code from svn today morning.
I first reverted everything, and then updated , so that my mods are overwritten Then build.

Teletext is usable only once. Not the second time.

    Sorry

    Regards,

    Hi guys

This might be an odd problem, but here goes.

After i have installed this svn build the text can be stretched all over the screen - or simply dissapear.
It can happen with text in the names of music or in "time/date/year" in the top of the screen.

Furthermore mp can "crash" in moving pictures, which it didnt do before this release. And by crash i mean that only background is visible when switching to a movie in the list. It is random and can not be triggered by anything else but looking through all movies in the list.
It is possible to recover by selecting next movie in the list, but it is kinda odd anyway.

Do you have any idea of what i am talking about, or should i try to trigger and make a screenshot ?

In any case are you using Windows 7 or Vista + VMR9?

    I am using w7 with EVR ?

    Henrik

Anyone here who has a clue of what might happen ?

I can confirm that teletext only works once.

Again, with SVN 25000 it works - switch on - switch off - switch on etc.
Now with SVN 25025 you can start it once, the second time nothing is displayed. How can it be that something working for years had to be changed in this manner?

Teletext itself is not changed but the DirectX texture management fixing breaks the teletext currently.
