mkv is a container (video + audio + subtitle).

You may have a splitter (haali media splitter), and codec for video and audio.

    Example:

mkv with video (h264) and audio (ac3) you need:

haali media splitter, coreavc (or cyberlink h264 or ffdshow) and ac3filter (or cyberlink or ffdshow).

    ok?

    No luck on what?
    1. You need a codec for playing the HD-tpye, like FFDShow or CoreAVC
    2. You need container splitter (lika Haali) for .mkv (matroska)

I am having a somewhat strange problem with MKV files.

I have files that I can play in WMP or VLC without any problems. I have CoreAVC, ffdshow & Matroska installed. Most MKVs work fine in Media Portal, but there are some that won't play. They don't cause an error or show corrupted video, they just don't do anything (i hit play or select or P and it won't do a thing).

I took the same file, put it into Matroska and recreated the file and it didn't work. I took the same file, removed all the subs and had only audio & video and it worked great! What can I do to get these file to decode subtitles properly?

Try to install last version of vsfilter (directvobsub) then configure it to (never load) on the first tab and check MOD32 fix option under general tab. Then set in haali media splitter AUTOLOAD SV FILTER (first option).

    I've solved!

Are you sure you are in vobsub settings? Ive got the latest version and they are both here. 98% Of my MKV files working as well. Only two left and I have no idea why they wont work, but they are only trailers so I don't care really. However I had no .MKV problem in the first place.

I have recently installed MediaPortal 1.37 (x64) and MP-TVSeries v4.5.1.697 and unfortunately the TV episode runtime duration is missing in my Titan skin. This only applies to my .TS files, my .MKV files are OK. I believe the difference is likely to be because .MKV files embed the runtime in the file unlike .TS files. I have done...

fixed the episode naming above ^. There was no error in the naming of the file itself. Every time I enter TV Series, it tries to re-scan the episodes. The series appears for just a few seconds and disappears again.
