Hi, I've got a question about this "scene-thing"
Did you rename the scene mkv/avi - files manually?
Or is there any tool for that?

btw: is it possible to use the foldernames for matching the imdb-movies?

No, I didn't touch the file names in any way. They are as they were released and as I downloaded them.

This fix is looking to address scene names so you do not need to rename them as long as the real title is in there, give it a try and select movie-xml as the database grabber.

Folder naming does not work at the moment to ge the title, it is on the to do list.

hm but I think this fix can't work properly, because it uses only filenames for matching, e.g.:
    Alien.Vs.Predator.Extended.Cut.German.2004.AC3.DVDRiP.XviD-DAW:
daw-avpec-xvid1.avi <-- this can't be found by imdb

normally the official scene file-tag is: groupname-short_form...

so in my opinion the scanner must uses the foldername

Yes I agree, I personally think people should re-name their files correctly or create a script to do it for them, however the quick fix that went into v6 at a request of some users does at least make a good stab at geuessing the correct movie title, certainly a lot better than doing nothing like it did before; but you need to have the the title in there not short names like avp......

No matter how much logic you build into it you can never get it right 100% of the time, this is not AI it is just some dumb logic pattern matching.

As I stated in a previous post support for folder title naming will be added soon, it is on the todo list (see the first post).

...and if testing always use the movie-xml search first, it is far better than the imdb one as the api on that site is designed to handle correct movie lookups, where as the imdb one cannot even handle passing a year and then relies on screen scapping to retrive data which is a lot slower.......

I had a tool that I used for processing "scene releases". They normally contain the nfo file, which has a link to imdb.
My tool would then process attached files (unrar etc) and then rename them accordingly to imdb name and year.
It also used mediainfo.dll to distinguish fakes and "torrent poisons" and delete them.

If there would be a demand for it, I could revive it back.

    gamejester,

Since our last chat, I decided to install version 7 and do another scan of my system to see where we are at.

For locating the movies, now I am getting 95% match, however here is an example of an error in the scan.

    ISSUE 1: - Scan / Cover Issue

'The Longest Yard.avi' matches to "The Longest Yard Sale" ... Now, when you go into the GUI and press imdb, then refresh to locate the correct "The Longest Yard" it brings up the right one, but doesn't bring up a cover - its blank. You need to change overs until you find one.

ISSUE 2: - Summary scanning issue

The following problem is a bit more of an issue than the one above, this is quite an issue with about 15% of my titles being scanned. They are being scanned and identified correctly ! which is great, however, the imdb scan/script is not copying across the summary to display in the IMDB info section. Here are few examples of movies that are not copying the summary correctly:

    'Vantage Point.avi'
    'The Kingdom.avi'
    'The Bourne Supremacy.mkv & avi'
'I now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.avi'
    'National Treasure Book of Secrets.avi'

If you need any more info or explanation, please let me know... We are almost there :)

Hi Spaldo, how do you go when using the Movie-XML script?

They are not showing up the summary either on refresh using them... I can't do a full scan atm, but on refresh they don't get the summary.

There is another 50 or so it is not showing, but I just didn't have time to write them all down.

    gamejester,

I will try to give you the reproduction steps as best I can...

Firstly, I am using the latest version of your application (v7). You will need to have a few movie files which include the following 2:

'John Forgerty - Soundstage Part 1.mkv'
'John Forgerty - Soundstage Part 2.mkv'

Now, including these and some others, run a database scan using only your included IMDB grabber, I am currently using MoviesXML, IMPAwards & Amazon in the covers section.

Once you do a scan using IMDB grabber only, and it wont find the above John Fogerty music video, then add the moviexml as a secondary grabber and run the scan again. That is when I got the exception error on the second file.
