Re: Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 2 Available

Maybe the filter settings should be just xml based in the first place?! Or is that impossible cause of db design?

We are planning on adding export/import functionality for filters and categories in the (relatively) near future and the format we use will most likely be XML.

I love the new version of moving pictures, my only question is if there is a way that you can slow down the movie plot scroll. on most movies the plot needs to scroll and it goes to fast to actually read.

Thanks

This is skin dependent. You should talk to your skin designer. ;)

    Hi Gixxer (fforde)!

This is not skin related ;)

Take a look in general config within MP settings. There's an option screen setup / scrolling speed.

Now choose horizontal and/or vertical scrolling speed.

    That's it.

EDIT: misunderstood your post ... you're not speaking about "text scrolling speed" ... fforde

No you're right we were talking about text scrolling. I don't know why I thought this was skin related, good find though. To be clear to everyone else this is found in the Settings Menu opened from the MediaPortal GUI itself. This option is for some reason omitted from the separate configuration screen.

Re: Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 2 Available

Thank you for this fantastic plugin. It looks great with the BlackGlass skin and together with TV-Series, it's a super replacement/improvement to my Popcorn C-200 with MovieJukeBox. Mediaportal on my Asrock 330HT waayyy outperforms the Popcorn.

However, there are one small detail ;-)

With MovieJukebox (which is actually just a HTML generator), it was possible to have boxed sets or collections of movies.
This was done by having a text like "[SET JAMES_BOND-1] in the filename of the movie, the '1' indicating the movies position in the current set.
There was a few advantages to this - first, you didn't "pollute" your movie list with umpteen movies (i have 200+ cartoons that I like to keep together and don't show them all in the movie list when browsing other stuff). Second, certain collections are "natural", like the James Bond, Monty Python and Star Wars collections. There's quite a few, and making a category for each doesn't quite seem to be the right way.

I would love to see a way to handle this with Moving Pictures. I could of course use filters to, for instance, mark all the cartoons off into a custom category, but it's not quite the same, as they would still all show, if I selected "All Movies".

What I really would like to see is a way to "mark" a folder as a "movie", so it would show up as a single movie in the list. The folder could contain poster and/or backdrop images. Below this folder would be more folders having movies just like "normal".
In the GUI, selecting this "special movie" would simply drop a level and show the underlying movies just like normal.
There could even be sub-levels if needed.

    FAT EDIT:
Just realized that this wall all possible using the really nice filters in the Movie Categories section. They allowed for quite complex setups.
    A really awesome plugin.

There is also a Scroll Delay you can put in for TextBox controls which the skin designer needs to take into consideration when designing the skin. I usually take the default scroll speed and set a delay +2 secs on top of my normal reading speed.

    e.g.
    Code:
    <scrollStartDelaySec>15</scrollStartDelaySec>

This will delay the scrolling for 15 secs, this may seem large but if you are using small fonts on a wide text control e.g. Details view, then this maybe necessary.
