Just want to add my thanks for a great next release.

I do have one enhancement request though - not sure whether I should post it here on in the bugs list? So, please move if necessary.

Would it be possible to filter by the Sort By field? I only ask as this is how I currently index multi-part movies to get them in the right order.

For example, I set the Sort By field of Batman(1989) as Batman 1 thru to The Dark Knight as Batman 6 - this way they show in the right order in movie browser, but with the original titles.

If I can set a filter on Sort By then I can use the keyword 'Batman' and get all Batman movies without having the change the Title field.

I also do this for James Bond movies - i.e. Dr. No has Sort By set to James Bond 01 thru to Quantum of Solace which has Sort By set to James Bond 22

Hi Cazz, in the next build there will be Blue3 (4:3) skin support. In the meantime you can get them from: Issue 641 - Add Blue3 (4x3) Support With Standard Install

We have talked on the issue tracker already, but for everyone else's benefit, we are looking into this issue. But ProjektC, if you (or anyone else) is looking to manually install the Beta, there is a ZIP available on our official download page.

I am curious:
Quite some time ago I asked if there is the possibility to group some films together (i.e. having the same film as different files with different languages).
I was replied that there will be a manual grouping feature in the upcoming release (which would be now 1.0)

Is this still intended / or already implemented? I couldn't find such functionality - only option I found is the combination of files under the same entry, but you do not have a selection option. They are played in a sequence - so usable for multi part films

For better clarification: I am looking for a functionality similar to what the Anime plugin people implemented: After movie selection you receive a pop-up window showing the different versions as second selection.

quick question though to those of you that have large numbers of movies (i have around 3000): how is your plugin speed?
i run MP on a core 2, not a speedster by any means but usually plenty fast enough - right now it takes about 10 seconds to enter the moving pictures plugin, then there is a delay to get into most submenus as well of around 10-15 seconds, which makes it barely useable.

I currently still use myfilms, which loads instantaneously, so is there a way to optimize moving pictures to run faster as well?

also on the same subject, the "movie categories" button to customize the categories in the configuration panel takes waay too long to load, i imagine because it actually loads all the movies under each filter. Could it be possible to disable that to speed things up? each time i want to try a new category i need to wait for minutes...

i think a lot of people have the same performance problems. mine aren't as bad, but when i scroll through my movies in list mode, the covers and fanart take about 10 seconds to catch up. i'm using streamedmp, which also might be the source of the problem.

My speed isn't what it used to be with 0.7.5 either. I don't have 3000 movies more like 500.
This is with the default filters, freshly upgraded movingpictures. Seems to be the same with a new database.
The access to storage shouldn't be a real problem here (Vertex SSD 30GB, kinda slowish with my AMD setup (compared to another intel based setup) but still quite fast compared to conventianal HDs). The CPU is no powerhouse, 5050E

We talked about supporting "box sets" in 1.0, but this was pushed back to get the release out the door sooner. But I am not sure this is what you are talking about, this is more for grouping a series of movies together. I think what you are asking for is support for alternate versions of the same movie. This is something we have planned, but it is (and has been for a while) scheduled a few releases away.

Well there are two things at play with performance. If you guys are running a fairly recent SVN or Beta of MediaPortal, there is a known issue that causes facade performance to slow down. This has already been resolved and will be available with the next release of MediaPortal.

The second issue is with the categories menu and how it works. There is definitely room for speed improvements and we will continue to work on this to help people with large collections. For now though the best I can say is it is a Beta and we are still working on it. Sorry
