    XP/Vista 64 bit sounds nice
But at the moment MP does not support it
You can try & hack things around to get it work , but it still will be a 32bit
application running on a 64bit OS

A real 64bit version of MP is not planned at the moment
    Reason for this:
    - i don't think any of the team members currently have 64bit XP/Vista
    - Rewriting MP/TV3 will be quite some work
    - The amount of users running 64bit is still very low

I guess once 64 bit becomes more common, and more and more users
are switching to 64bit then MP/TV3 will be ported to a true 64bit application

    We'll be waiting. :)

For example, for me Vista x64 has been only reasonable OS mainly because of support for 4GB (and more) RAM. XP can't support it, because of 32bit address space shared with PCI devices. The reasons of having much RAM may vary from serious photoshop work, multiple running apps, through audio creation (some virtual instruments are really big), to gaming (number of RAM dependent games, like Test Drive Unlimited will grow).
I also have no problems with drivers for Vista 64bit, including these for hardware I bought much ealier (audigy 2zs sound card, a4tech webcam, sapphire theatrix analog tuner + cyberlink remote, saitek controller)

Since MP refuse to work with my tuner under Vista I have to use MCE and it is only disappointment of Vista x64 for now.

x86 32 bit Prog DVB works for me in vista x64 , with 32 bit driver and default installation
    settings.

    Compatibility mode doesnt help.

So this is not a problem of it being not coded native x64 but
rather that is also doesnt work in 32 bit mode in x64, which
the OS does support for downward compat.

MP does the same thing as with you ...config and app crash.

also could be that NET 3.0 on x64 which
is part of Vista is not properly support by MP

That crash when running mp (32bits) under windows (64 bits)
    should be fixed hopefully;-)
I dont have 64 bits windows so i cannot test it, but... i believe i fixed it
    in latest svn

    hi,

me too. I have the same problem starting MediaPortal 0.2.3 RC1 with
the newest SVNs. Thes strange thing for me is, that without a SVN
i am able to start Mediaportal setup and the programm. But installing
the newest SVN results in programm crash ...

The main thing for me wanting to use the newest SVN is that on my
other PC with VISTA 32bit ( maybe thats the problem ) the newest
SVN the starting of PowerDVD 7.3 from myfilms works fine even for
ripped HD-DVDs. But on my HTPC ( Vista 64bit Home Premium ) without
a SVN installed ( because afterwards it doesn't start anymore ) for
HD-DVDs nothing happens and for .ts files PowerDVD starts, sound
is there, but no video ... So my hope was a new SVN, but i can't use
    it ...

Until now i didn't check the deactivation of the process mentioned
before, i will have a eye on it ...

    MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC1 / 07-25-2007 01-00h - Revision:15317

no chance for me the mentioned process is already canceld ...

following error message apears ... strange is, that there is
    the 0.2.2 mentioned, but i installed the 0.2.3 RC1 and a SVN
    for 0.2.3 ...

hmm, o.k. the first test didn't work. After installing the snapshot
the configuration couldn't be used ...

In every 0.2.3 RC1 snapshot the main version 0.2.2 is mentioned.
Should the 0.2.2 version be installed and than the 0.2.3 RC1
snapshot or the 0.2.3 RC1 and than the snapshot :)

Hmm, i wanted to attach the logfile but i don't have a log folder ???
at the moment i test with the MPTestTool but it also doesn't find a
    logfile directory ...

but my working 32bit system also has no log folder ...

    Where can i find the configuation.log ?
