Is it me or is 3279 slower than 3260? I'm using Mediastream by Pilehave and banners view for series and the backdrop, but with 3279 it takes a moment for the fanart to kick in. Every time I enter a serie, it shows the my default series backdrop and the fanart loads a few seconds later. In 3260 it shows up instantly.

hmmm, it was never really instant. Any how, there is now fanart fading added thanks to fforde over at moving pictures. If you ask Pilehave to add a second image control (see release notes) then the skin will also support fading fanart as you transistion to different series or enter a series.

The Fanart fading may result in a perceived drop in performance, but the visual element makes up for it I think.

I'm fairly new to MP, but am tech savvy and need some help. I installed MP 1.0.0.0 yesterday. I found the MP-TVSeries plugin and thought it looked interesting to try out. I DL it and looked at the readme which says:

    ---------------------
    Install instructions
    ---------------------
For most users, just drop the file structure inside the rar file into your MediaPortal directory (usually C:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal) overriding any existing files.

Well, inside the rar file is a 2.0 directory. I dropped that into MP install directory as instructed and it didn't show up as a plug in. So I extracted the MP-TVSeries.dll and dropped it into:

    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows

    Still didn't work.

So then I extracted the language\MP-TVSeries directory with all the XML files and put the XML files under the skin I'm using (tried Blue3 and Blue3 Retro Lite) both are 4:3.

    Still didn't work.

So finally I took the language\MP-TVSeries directory with all the XML files and also put the XML files under:

    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\language\MP-TVSeries

    Still didn't work.

The plugin shows up in MP, but when I select it I get a black screen that says "file missing or invalid".

HELP! I figure this has to be an installation problem, but the directions with the plugin aren't real clear.

    Thanks in advance,

Hey Speedy, I just open the rar and drag everything inside the 2.0 folder into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal then it automatically adds the files to the Language and Plugin subdirectories. Good point that the instructions should say drag (extract) everything inside the 2.0 folder....

Personally I am a big believer in MP Installer (.mpi files) as they automatically put everything in the right place. I wish all plugins and skins were done with MPI!

BTW, TV Series is a FANTASTIC plugin. The best database for TV series I have ever found, and I have tried MANY!

OK, I just did that to see if it'd fix my problem. I'm still getting a black screen that say "file missing or invalid" when I select My TV Series from the MP Plugin menu.

Do I have to add anything to my skins directories?

You need skin support for the plugin - I guess you are getting the mpdirectory/tvseries.xml missing error?
Use something like Aeon or StreamedMP, both have native support for this plugin (as do many other skins) :)

It's not telling me what file it's missing, but I don't find a tvseries.xml file in:

    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

I'm using a Blue 3 Retro skin. I've also tried the skin that comes standard with MP (Blue 3).

I'm still on a tube TV (4:3 ratio) so my options seem limited on what skin I can get. Any suggestions?

    Light dawns :)
The skin doesn't support the TVSeries plugin yet - you'll need to post a request in that thread HERE

(FYI the file should be in mpdir/skin/skinName/tvseries.xml)

    #edit#
You might want to give this skin a try...
    PureVision 1.5
It's 4:3 and support most of the plugins :)

Many thanks. Atleast I know I'm not going crazy now.
