    Found yourself in Limbo

    Light dawns :)
The skin doesn't support the TVSeries plugin yet - you'll need to post a request in that thread HERE

(FYI the file should be in mpdir/skin/skinName/tvseries.xml)

    #edit#
You might want to give this skin a try...
    PureVision 1.5
It's 4:3 and support most of the plugins :)

Many thanks. Atleast I know I'm not going crazy now.

    Hi Speedy!

No, you are not crazy. You just happend to find yourself in the limbo of plugin-support issues.
Blue3 Retro is basicly blue3 without the Mepo character and blue3 is the Mediaportal "standard" skin.
It has support built in for all standard mediaportal stuff but "no" plugins are supported. Mp team regards
this to be the task of the plugin makers... logical
But most non standard skins today HAS sopport included for a wide range of plugins so the plugin makers
starts to take this for granted and stops include some lame standard xml that works half-bad in most skins.

This is something that the team must think hard about,,, it's very confusing for beginners and the risc is that
only people with hacker skills stay with MP, all others will try, fail, uninstall & run away.

Best thing for you to do to make life easy, is to go to your skin download-page. There it often states if a plugin
support is included or not. If you have a plugin that you wan't to run in a skin and the skin do not have support, you can go to that skin's forum page and ask for help. With some luck, you find someone that can help you make
the xml file you need to add to the skin's directory.

You can also take a look at the StreamedMP skin. It has gone a different path and included some very good plugin's
with the skin installation prog. You just dubble klick on the exe file and it install's the skin plus plugins at the same
time. TvSeries, Moving Pictures(VERY GOOD), newsTickers,,, Then you get the right skinfiles installed plus the
versions of the plugins that Streamed have found works best with the skin.

Good luck and do not give up on MP, it's a great mediacenter!

    Regards
    Karl-Åke

A Samsung LN52A750 is on my list to purchase as soon as the price stabilzes at Amazon (dropped $60 in the past 3 days).

One more questions for you. With PureVision I've got TVSeries working (yay). Moving-Pictures is having an issue though. It works, and I can scroll through my ISOs, but when I select one of them, it doesn't start playing?

I use Daemon Tools for ISOs in standard MP which works fine with Blue3 and Blue3 Retro skins. However, Moving-Pictures doesn't seem to understand what to do after the ISO mounts.

    Any ideas on that one?

Probably best to do a search - I don't use the ISO thing, it's better IMHO to rip stuff and just play the .avi files (makes life so much easier!)
I do know that there are a few posts regarding these types of issues though...

Thanks. I found a thread on it and posed the question, but so far no answers. The ISO function was supposed to be fixed in the latest, but mine's acting up. I figure it's some check box I've missed or something simple like that but there are so many options it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

I've not found an AVI rip method (I even use H.264) that has high enough quality for me to go to that format. I agree it's easier, but I want crystal clear picture so I just rip the main movie as an ISO with 100% quality. I can encode an H.264 format file to have the same quality as the ISO, but then it's just as big, so there's no real benefit.

How do you do yours? Feel free to PM me the details to keep this thread from going off topic.:D

    Have a read f this:
    Doom9.org
It's a kind of tutorial for ripping using the x264 codec.

I also have a HUGE online storage device:
    ReadyNAS Pro
Gigabit connection to the HTPC and 6TB online - sweeeeeeet :D
    No storage worries here...

You are correct about off topic though - wrapping up...

Ah. I use DVDFAB to do my ripping, it's easy, and has built in support for H.264 as well. I just wasn't sure what bitrate to choose since the files get almost as big as the DVD. It has the same features as listed in that guide as well (or something similar). I've been shooting for 2GB files as the ISO is 5GB on avg movies for just the main.

    Playback stops after several seconds.

    Hello,

First let me thank you for the fantastic plugin. I've been enjoying it for many months.

I am having two problems with the latest version of the plugin on MediaPortal 1.0 that may be related.

On my Vista machines upon returning from either an external player or the built in player skin formatting seems to become corrupt. when using Indego for example te episode details seem to move from the top right to the bottom center of the screen. On Streamed MP the description disappears entirly. My best guess is that the screen is being resized when the video is played and this somehow messes up the skin.

On an XP Home based machine an episode plays for 4 - 5 seconds and then MediaPortal returns to the TVSeries screen. I can still hear the episode playing but can not see it. If videos are played from "MY Videos" they work fine. A strange symptom is that when the episode is somewhat-paying, if I go to MyTV, then I can see the picture. The only way to halt playback it to start something else or to exit Media Portal.

I have tried a variety of codecs and all seem to act the same way.

    Ideas?

    Thanks Again
    Chris

    Hi,

This seems a nice plugin but I have 2 questions:

    1) Does this plugin show a logo (or something) if the specified series/episode is subtitled? Either with internal subs in the container or external? If not, woud you consider implementing this functionality?

    2) I can see that there are logos for 720p/1080p, what about for DVDRip's? Is there any logo or should we assume that if no 720p/1080p logo is present, the episode must be of lower resolution?

You have to set logo rules for this to work, but when you do, it does work very well. Easiest way is to download AEON or one of the Mediastream/StreamedMP skins, because they have readily made logos available (exept for subtitles, but you can use this:

    Code:
    [B]skin\StreamedMP\Media\TVSeries\Logos\Misc\Subtitles.png[/B];-;<Episode.AvailableSubtitles>;-;=;-;1;-;AND;-;;-;=;-;;-;AND;-;;-;=;-;;-;

The bold part is the path to the .png file in question. If you use another skin, you need to change this and get logos you like.
