I've set this thread to "no bug". Windows 8 is not final and also not supported.
(but you might try to run the setup in Windows 7 compatibility mode)

I've reset it to Bug.
We need to keep it in mind and atleast make sure it working on windows 8.
If we have issues with dokan, not dokan should fail. MP2 installer should already prevent to install.

This issue should be fixed in next version. We are using a modified version of the dokan installer which does not show error messages anymore during silent installations.

During a quick test, MP2 was also able to start on Windows 8. There might be other issues when running on Windows 8, but at least the installation is allowed now, so we can test the compatibility.

Fixed, I think.
Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this.

That seems to have done the trick.
Thank you so much for your help and advice, CyberSimian. I hadn't thought of deleting the various folders, but I'll bear that in mind for any future disasters. Now I can record King & Conqueror on Sunday!

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
