Hi, I've just set up MediaPortal 1. I have a SiliconDust HD Homerun Dual Card, having 2 tuners. When I try to record 2 tv shows at the same time only one will record. Windows 8 is my OS. What can I do to record two shows at once?

you should be able to run 2 or more HDHR tuners at the same time. I have 3 HDHR tuners on my Win7-x64 system and can record 3 shows at the same time. I don't have win8 so I'm not sure if there are any win8 specific details.

When you setup your tuners do you see both HDHR tuners in TV Servers and scanned both tuners? see wiki

If you look at TV Channels > Mapping and check both HDHR tuners, are the channel mapped to both HDHR tuners, see wiki

Are you using ATSC (over the air with antenna) or QAM basic cable unencrypted? It would help if you uploaded your tv.log and error.log files. In win7 the log files are in the following, not sure where they are located in win8.
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log

I note that you are using MP2. The following applies to MP1, but I think that MP2 is identical in this situation. "TV Server Config" has a "TV Mapping" panel in the "TV Channels" section. On the "TV Mapping" tab: The left column lists the channels that have not yet been mapped to the TV tuner identified by the drop-down menu just...

Can anyone tell me the step-by-step procedure for bringing up a second channel in pip mode? I can only do it sometimes, after many tries, and it’s not clear what I am doing that makes it work on those occasions when it does. Cannot find guidance on the site. Thanks, N. Again, if anyone knows how to do this, would be much...

Well, the log doesn't show any problems. I can see correctly tuned channels in the log. It seems to me that the tuner works fine. Can you copy the created ts file(located in your timeshift folder) somewhere else while in channel preview and try to play it in VLC or MPC-HC? PS: You can also try to make short record
