Hi,

Is it currently possible to start more than one instance of the TvServer on the same machine and put a master/slave relationship between them?.

    In theory yes, if you:
    - don't share your DVB cards (e.g. you have 2 cards. Assign 1 to instance 1 and the other one to instance 2
    - have 2 databases on the same machine. So you have to manually rename the first and patch the gentle.config.
Not very easy, very error prone and totally unsupported.
What would be the reason for doing that?

    Hi Gemx,

I just wanted to do this for test purposes, to see if the setup would work with with more than one tvserver without setting up and extra fysicly machine.

Isent the database configuration file loaded from the shared user library and not from the application folder ? or is there a way to come around this.?.

To get it to work I have to assign a different name to the other instance and give it a different remotecontrol port I guess?

I will try to see if I able to get it to work... to test out that functionality..

I would be interested in this as well!

I would like my htpc to be able to show different TV channels on two different displays and I guess I would need to run two instances of MP to achieve this? (and two tuners and two graphics cards of course.)

You don't need 2 instances of TvServer but 2 instances of MediaPortal and 2 TvCards.
2 times MP on the same machine is not possible afaik.

    Hi Gemx,

The current version of the TvServer is not plug & play, when it comes to running to different Instances of the TvService on the same machine... in fact it dosen't support at all.:(

I have finally got it working, but it toke some reprogramming and in the progress I located some bugs in the Master/Slave handling.

Things I have added to TvService and it would be great to have them included in the public version:)

    • Make the TvServer Control Port configurable
    • Make the TvService ServiceName configurable
    • Added Port to the Server Entity to increase uniqueness
    • RemoteControl object extended with the new port information

Modifications made to the Setup Program
    • Ability to control a TvServer running in debugmode.
    • Configurable ServiceName used to manuely control the service within the SetupTv.
    • Ability to display servers placed on the same host

and properly some other minor things....

I would very much like to add the functionlity to the SVN version, if you are interested?.

    More Details

    Hi,

    • Added Port to the Server Entity to increase uniqueness

and properly some other minor things....

I would happily added the changes changes to SVN... if interessed.

    HowTo.
    Download this file:Tvservercustom.zip - 9.59MB

    Pre-Req:
    • Only working on MySQL.
    • Clean/fresh DB. Export your channellist first
    • TvClient plugin - take it from one of the other SVN Builds.

    1) Install the tvserver as normal.
    2) Start SetupTV and Install DB
    3) Close SetupTV
    4) Take Copy/Paste of the Mediaportal Portal TvServer - name it server2 or something
    5) Go into the new folder and press setSlave
    6) Now go to the servicemanager and start TvService & TvService2
    7) Start SetupTV again and Enable/Deactivate your tvcards so they are only activate in one of the 2 servers.

Now it should be ready for action!.

    All Done:)

For me, a clean install of 1.34 x64 TV server only on a fresh Windows 11 Pro device failed because the installation of MySQL in the background never completed, hence no database to connect to. A manual installation of MySQL worked fine, but I didn't know how to prepare MySQL for the TV server database. In the end, I opted for the...

I uninstalled MP, made sure no sub folders were left n any programmes folders, changed the computer name, rebooted, installed MP and set logs and rebooted and ran TVServer. Didn't do anything in regard to S Loopback adapter. I've been using NextPvr since the problem became insurmountable. Only reason it's not a good long term...
