Right, so i did the same and used the following settings:
    Music.PNG
When i start the playback of a CD and hit F7 and/or F8 there's a bunch of PlaylistPlayer error showing up in the logs:

    Code:
    [2013-06-29 18:07:35,016] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - PlaylistPlayer: *** unable to play - Z:\Emeli Sandé\Our Version of Events (2012)\12. Emeli Sandé - Lifetime.flac - skipping track!
[2013-06-29 18:07:38,083] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - BASS: Play caused an exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
      at MediaPortal.MusicPlayer.BASS.BassAudioEngine.Play(String filePath).
    [2013-06-29 18:07:38,084] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - PlaylistPlayer: *** unable to play - Z:\Emeli Sandé\Our Version of Events (2012)\02. Emeli Sandé - My Kind Of Love.flac - skipping track!

@jameson_uk or @hwahrmann any thoughts on this?

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Set CrossFading buffer to 0 seconds
    2. Start playback of a CD (hit P on the album)
    3. Open the side menu and go to Current Playlist
    4. Hit F7 or F8 to skip to previous/next song and the popup should come.

Tried your usecase, and it works perfect here - no errors/crashes or anything weird ;)
    But I don´t have flac files ;)

Arf... and i even tested it with DW. Not sure if it matters that view was set to 'Shares' instead of AlbumArtists (I'm updating the dB now).

Local files or remote files Peter?

    ** EDIT **
Good point ;) i'll try with MP3 also. Just gave it a try with WASAPI engine, and that behaves the same as BASS here.

So MP3 behave the same as FLAC, both BASS & WASAPI behave the same.
The error gets triggered best by hitting F7.

And you are pressing F7 / F8 when watching Current Playlist? (Although i'm also able to trigger it on NowPlaying, hitting F8 and then F7)

Yup, in playlist or NowPlaying - no difference - all works fine ;)

Just noticed my Steps to reproduce didn't have the CrossFading set to 0 seconds, so just added that.
Did you use that setting -> Crossfading 0 sec?
