Is My Films compatible with AMC Unofficial? I just don't want to start using it to build my catalog, only to find that My Films can't use it :)

It should be compatible, as long as you don't use the extended fields - but no promise for that - it is not yet released.

Issue 55 as about support for AMC4.x.

As soon, as AMC 4 is released (beta 4.1 is announced for "soon") as official version, we can see what is necessary and how we can support it in MyFilms.

    Hi,

Is the dutch language supported? If i look into the fanart dir i only see french dir names. As a beginner in MyFilms and a MovingPictures user, i find MyFilms very hard to setup.
I'm a non standard user and if i think it's difficult a lot of people around me already gave up. It's always hard to make something easy :)

Hi wouter1971 - it would be really helpful if you could describe specifically what you find hard to setup. In most cases you just use the Setup Wizard and it sets up everything with presets for you.

Guzzi has considered ways to make the Setup look/work easier but it is hard to know what is the most confusing for others. So, he wanted to get feedback from a lot of users before making major changes. Thus, your feedback would be really valuable!

My Films allows customization of almost everything imaginable and supports so many different setups and movie catalogs that you are right, it is not easy to make setup easy for everyone. But we'd like to try! So the first step is for you and other users to identify the issues, and maybe even make some suggestions, so Guzzi can work from a clear set of specs/requirements.

    Thanks!

You can use "views" for that - define view and possible filters and you can choose them from menu.

AMC afaik does not support fanart download - you can either load them from MyFilms GUI or via AMCupdater.

    OK, i'll try the updater.

I use the field category to create a default view. when i start my film there are 2 entries, film and others. i.e. in others i can find documentaries and live concerts. Can I filter this again to create something like 2 "sub folders"?

I was wondering if there's any way to make all the different movie utils/plugins share the same images for movies?

At the moment, I have AMC, MyFilms, MovingPictures and Videos all with their own collections of images. Perhaps they use different, incompatible naming schemes or something so it's not possible to have a common folder for the images, but it seems like it would be nice if this was possible.

Also, does anyone have a good way of importing movies into AMC?

My files tend to be named moviename (year).avi or moviename (year) [director's cut].avi, so I used phillipe's suggestion here to strip off everything but the moviename and create .film files, and then the .avi and .film can be dragged into AMC and that seems to work fine, but it's no good if movies are in subfolders or already burnt to DVD.

Obviously with files already on DVD, it's not possible to create .film files alongside them, so I'm thinking there's probably a way to do something like combine sed with dir /s to create a text file which can then be imported into AMC. Ideally I need something that will recognise (year) as the year and create a text file like:
    moviename, year
    moviename, year

so that when it's imported into AMC both the name and year will be there, which should improve the accuracy of scraping the details. The only downside with this approach is I won't get the audio, video, bitrate information from the file, so if there's a better way than can get that info as well that would be great, but if not just getting the name and year would be a big help.

When i make a new AMC, i make a catalog then drop 1 movie in it export to .xml set up MYFilms point MYFilms at the .xml catalog and my movie files folders then used AMCU to populate it.
My movies are named "movie name (year).avi" works great but takes a while when you have over 600 movies.

I advise you to use amc updater.
It imports fantastically movies with that file name format:
    Movie name (year).avi
