Looks like I've finally found the best settings:
- grabber scripts works automatically if it finds something
- but if not, at least the file appears in the list
- then I can select an other grabber script to give it a try
- and I don't get the new entry displayed with yellow color

but it's interesting:
Code:
2012.11.10. 0:27:22 - Processing Files.
2012.11.10. 0:27:22 - ===================================================================================================
2012.11.10. 0:27:31 - ErrorEvent : ErrorEvent importing The cabin in the woods.mkv : Matching the movie was successful, but grabber failed getting movie details data (title)
2012.11.10. 0:27:31 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2012.11.10. 0:27:31 - File Import Complete - 0 files loaded.
2012.11.10. 0:27:31 - ===================================================================================================

And nothing new will be displayed in the list.
But 'The cabin the woods.mkv' doesn't give this error...

I also find that method useful @vrm42 - that's why I documented it in wiki - Importing new films > Manually Match Films ;)
If you can think of a better title for that page/method so it's a bit more obvious when to use it - and confirm the instructions are complete and accurate - I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I noticed that sometimes if the internet grabbing fails. In this case, search and matching was successful, but no details (at least not the main title) couldn't be grabbed afterwards. To avoid wrong data to be loaded, importing if the data is cancelled at this point.
Can you please try to just repeat to verify if it was only a (internet) hickup or if it fails consistantly? If the latter, it could possibly be an issue of the grabber script - then script might consistantly not provide the main movie title. This could be fixed by adding an "optional mapping" of the secondary title to the main title - so the grabber will not fail to return a valid title for the respective movie.

First of all, unfortunately, I'm too lazy to read documentations :) especially if first I got headache because of something like this:
Option to select default grabber - not if I had an option to select any other - then next to it, there's a checkbox to disable it.
The pop-up help is also confusing a little bit, because it suggests to check it (to make it disabled) if I want to use it.

But even if I have read Wiki, I would have stopped reading after this:
    Code:
    Advantages:
1.Scan and add new films in seconds, as no internet lookup is required. You can play the film(s) right away without grabbing all data.
2.Get perfect matches for all your films because you select the match manually
since it's not what I was looking for. I don't want to match all my films manually, but it's OK if I have to do this sometimes (becuase I understand how difficult it is).

But with the settings I attached, it's convenient to use the plugin because it tries to find a match automatically and instead of making any mistakes, it grabs nothing if something was not clear - but I got an entry to do it myself.
Personally, I take this as a perfect solution (though I still miss the opportunity to have the plugin auto-started), because this way, I have to use the configurator for one time only, and later I can maintain my collection with my remote in the front of my TV.

I only hope that I can reproduce those neccesary settings on an other PC, because from now on, I recommend this plugin to my friends, which means I'm the one who will configure this plugin for them :)

Thx vrm42 - yes that was exactly what I was concerned about - that it sounded like those instructions were for manually matching ALL films, rather than what you wanted to do. Thanks I will try to improve that!

You might be pleased to see (and 'star' again ;)) Issue 138: Simplify AMCupdater user interface - although we have not developed all the specs yet - what Guzzi means by organizing it by 'use cases' is exactly what you suggest - so there would be an option currently described in the wiki under AMC Updater > AMCU Import Modes as 'Silent (import only media if no match)' which then presets all the options for you.

I starred it - and since I was there, I have made one more feature request :)

I was able to recreate my ultimate settings on a clean machine to have this plugin working perfectly:
    - start MyFilms Setup
    - Click on Setup Wizard
    - Set Config name and Country, then OK
    - I chose to create a new config
    - I chose to use Original title as Master title (I guess, it's unrelated here)
    - I set my movie folder
    - AMCU started automatically, I just closed it
    - On General tab, I set Sort Title to Original Title and I pressed Save (also unrelated)
    - On Views tab, I set Start Settings and Layouts
    - On update tab, I selected z3us' sript as Default Grabber and set Get Actor Roles to False
    - On Import tab, I set Title Search Handling to File Name+Internet lookup
    - Press Save button again
    - Press Import button
    - On Import Movies tab, I unchecked 'Don't import file in interactive mode'
    - On Database Fields tab, I unchecked 'Use internet data for languages field'
    - Select: File, Save config file
    - On Import Movies tab, press Begin Import button

Nothing else. And it works as I expected.

    Wonderful job, Guzzi!

It's a grabber script issue, other scripts work fine. Maybe z3us can take a look into this once again :)

Nice docs there vrm42 :) (and that's just how easy it really is, once you know what you want!) Now you won't have to remember the steps for all your friends - you can just bookmark that post :p

I made some observations on how using double-negatives (No, Don't import file in interactive mode) makes things harder to understand in the 5.1 thread but I think they got overlooked. I'll quote the relevant part of my post again to save looking it up. Note this was partly my feedback on the "use cases" on the wiki but obviously that reflects the options in MyFilms/AMCU itself. I haven't checked the wiki again recently, so some of these comments may no longer be relevant.

"Starting with the table, I would remove the two "Possible Values" lines. I think it's just confusing to try and describe the "Internet Lookup Behaviour" as true or false, so would just put the relevant text "try to find best match automatically" or "always offer choice of movie" in the box next to each case. I also find the options "Don't ask if no match" and "Don't import in interactive mode" rather confusing (if true it means "Yes, don't ask" or "yes, don't import" and if false it means "No, do ask" or "No, Do import") so I think it would be more logical/intuitive to reverse these to "Ask if no match" and "Import in interactive mode" (which would then translate to, if true "Yes, ask if no match" and "Yes, import in interactive mode" and if false "No, don't ask" and "No, don't import) so that true=yes/do and false=No/don't. I realise you'd have to change these in AMCupdater as well, but I think it would be worth the effort.

Also, it says background mode is not selectable but further down under "Silent Mode (import media if no match)" (I think this should be "Silent (import media only if no match)" to match the table) it says "This is much the same as Background mode when running GLobal Updates > Update DB in My Films" but the table shows the settings for Background mode and "Silent (import media only if no match)" to be the exact opposite of each other, so it's hard to see how they can be "much the same".

I also find the references to "Interactive Mode" rather confusing, especially the references to the "Interactive tab in AMCU Settings" which I can't seem to find and I don't understand the use of the "Don't Import in Interactive mode" setting, as a) if I disable Import when in Interactive mode, what would AMCupdater be doing? and b) if I'm running in Silent mode (i.e. not Interactive mode), why should this setting be relevant?

If what the "Don't import in Interactive mode" setting does is switch whether the user is asked to confirm each film before importing it, perhaps it would be clearer if it was renamed to something like "Use Interactive mode" or "Confirm before Import", but I'm not really sure what it's for as that seems to be what the "Internet Lookup Behaviour" setting is for and the Wiki says, under "Interactive Mode - always ask", "To enable Interactive mode, Select 'always offer choice of move' on the Interactive tab in AMCU Settings."

You're right doveman - we did listen to your feedback and started to incorporate some of it in 6.0 and will do more - but I never updated those use cases in the wiki for 6.0 :( . Thanks for catching that! Interactive tab changed to Import Tab. As you pointed out it was not a very intuitive name, especially as some cases were not interactive ;). I'll rewrite asap and ask you to check it again after, if you would be so kind.
