The plugin work with MP 1.0. There is only one problem with external osd library. It stops working when you play the second file, but I have fixed it already. Just need some time for testing. I will than release a new version for it.
I'm having quite a few issues with the internal player as you can see on this thread and I'm wondering if this plugin can be a nice workaround to my problem...
You see, I have CCCP (ffdshow + haali + vsfilter) plus CoreAVC perfectly configured on my machine to play all kinds of media files without any problems in MPC-HC or even WMP and right now I have an external player configured. However, with an external player I lose:
- Resuming movies
- MediaPortal OSD and step jumps
- Stacked movies playing
- Movie preview
So, my question is:
Using this plugin, will I be able to play my movies just as I do with MPC-HC/WMP and still be able to resume movies, have MP's OSD, play stacked movies and movie preview?
P.S: What exactly is the problem with the current version and MP 1.0 final? I don't understand what the really issue is here and I wanted to know before giving this plugin a try as I'm using MP 1.0 final.
The plugin can handle this, but it depends on the way how you configure it. If you configure MPlayer to be used as external player for the choosen extensions than you get the resuming and movie preview. I'm not sure about stacked files. The bundled gui plugin for mplayer doesn't have this functionality as it's main task is only to start the playback of video and audio files always with mplayer and not to replace the video plugin of mp.
This plugin has also two different osd implementations. The first one is the mplayer one which is very limited. The other one is a special library that tries to recreate the mp osd and displays it over the video. This osd doesn't have transparency or animation effects. The problem with the 1.0 release is that this osd stops working after the playback of the first file. This osd also needs more cpu power than the normal one of mp.
So basically it could be possible that this is a solution for you, but it depends on the configuration, your system and the video codecs of the video files.
I see, but I failed to understand how some things would work...
For instance, you said "MPlayer as external player"... How does resume and movie preview work with an external player? It normally doesn't... Does your plugin have some kind of implementation that makes that work?
You have to differ between an external player that you configure under Video in MP Configuration and an external player plugin like My MPlayer. If you use an external player plugin than still the internal video plugin is responsible for the resuming and tells the player after startup that it has to seek to the desired position.
I suggest that you just try it and look if it does what you are looking. The plugin can be uninstalled with the extension installer and also MPlayer doesn't make normally any changes to your system.
I've got a question about external players. (Not only Mplayer)
I don't understand how to know wich external player (in plugin section) is used.
I have enable Mplayer and VLC, so when i see a movie (*.avi). How can I choose to use Mplayer for example. (Not with the MPlayerGUI, but with the standard movie modul).
If somebody can explain me, it would be nice
Hi all,
I just uploaded the new version to the homepage. It will be available after approval. This version is for MP 1.0, but for the new SVN versions there is an updated version needed. I'm already working on this version, but I'm also going to add dvdnav support to the plugin which needs time. I think that the new version will be at least available with MP 1.0.1.
