Hi

Thank you for answering me. My problem is Microsoft sql server 2005 installation. During the installation an error occur saying: SQL Server Setup could not connect to database service for server configuration..... Login failed for user 'sa'....,"

I have tried to run installation with administrator rights. but I did not help.

I know this is not a wiki for supporting sql server installation but still I hope someone will help. I tried to make the installation on a XP machine and here there is no problem at all

Thank you again.

Well, that sounds like a problem that Microsoft should be solving, it doesnt really have anything to do with MP :)

However, we cant have you TV server less, so lets try and see if we can solve this.

Have you tried using MySQL instead? Take a look here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/install-MySql5

If that doesnt work then take a look at the SQL server installation guide here :
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/install-SQL-Server ?

When exactly during the installations steps shown in this guide do you get this error?

Additionally, have you tried disabling UAC? ( http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...nt-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/ )

I remember UAC causing a huge amount of trouble for me when i had Vista installed.

thank you for a quick answer. Yes I would really like that tv server to run because it has subtitle support for DVB-T cards.

Yes I know this is not a MP problem but there is not much help on MS wiki-pages :).

I have tried all your suggestions without any sucess. Also the MySQL behaves strange and the UAC disabling does not help.

You are asking when the MS SQL server installations fails: It is in the last part where configuraton is done. I have tried to run the installation in XP mode and as administrator but it does not help. :-(.

I really wounder what goes wrong? Why dó I get this strange error: "SQL Server Setup could not connect to database service for server configuration..... Login failed for user 'sa'....,"

Just to clarify, the code for subtitle support is actually available without the TV server, but it only works for Transport Stream files recorded with subtitle and teletext stream intact. MP1's recording/timeshifting engine records in DVR-MS and discards teletext and subtitle data.

You might want to try and ask here:

What happens after the failure? Is there any way to continue or does it force an uninstall?

I supposed telling you to get rid of Vista wont help? Doing that helped me alot ;)

Seriously though, it sounds like there is something wrong with you Vista installation.

Have you perhaps had or have another version of SQL server installed already?

Btw, we should probably stop cluttering up this thread with off-topic messages, if you need to respond to this message, send me a PM instead of posting here.

    Problems

I have had problems with DVB subtitles in the recent couple of days builds. Sometimes YLE 1 and YLE 2 stops showing subtitles when I change to the channel. Turning MY TV off and on solves the problem. Also I noticed that pausing the program having subtitles, continuing and jumping for example 15 seconds back causes subtitles to get lost (YLE 1 and 2).

Another topic (maybe tourrettes is interested): At nights "urheilukanava" doesn't have any program, just some white text in the black background telling "no program at nights...". Often when I change to that kind of "program", the TV will start to have problems, and usually reboot is needed.

I'll try to get log files of these problems if I have them also with the latest SVN.

In case you have any channels with teletext subs, could you tell me whether the same is the case for those (it that they can get "lost")?

No, I don't have any channels with teletext subtittles, and I have disabled the teletext subtittles from the configuration application.

The subtitles getting lost -problem seems quite similar as the one that was fixed about few weeks a go. It has re-appeared after the latest YLE crashing fixes.

I heard this before and im not sure what it means. 'Transport Stream files' is that non-compressed files taking up a lot of space? Also when will MP be recording this information along with the DVR-MS file - is it the DVR-MS format that can't contain subtitles - in that case would it be possible to create some kind of .srt, .sub etc. file with the same name as the DVR-MS file? Let MP be able to show data from these files per default and this experimental? filter would be an addon to create the subtitles files? That way everyone could bennefit - i'm afraid to try and download some nightly build of the tv-server setup to keep up with these changes.

I think this initiative is great, and adding subtitles to movies is a great asset. It's not that we (my wife and I) don't understand spoken english, but in some movies (even danish ones) the voice acting can sometimes be really hard to follow due to background noise or perhaps even your wifes munching on peanuts etc. :p

Even if this will have to continue like this - i will eagerly await the final release once it gets integrated with MP or TVEngine.

EDIT: Somehow managed to doublepost (the first post said internal server error)

I haven't noticed any missing subtitles lately. So when that happens next time please take all the logs and post those here. Maybe they reveal something about the issue.

The file size difference between DVR-MS and Transport Stream files are something like 0.01%. So no need to worry about that. Both files have the video and audio information in a compressed form.

About integrating the subtitle support to old TVE2. It would be a HUGE task to record the subtitle data to the different files than in .dvr-ms (as those don't support it). We would need to port a lot of TsWriter.ax code to TVE2 for the writing & stream analysis + decoding and then port a lot of the code from the TsReader.ax to handle the reading. Also graph building and timing would most liklely cause a lot of head ache... in my eyes is not worth to do the porting, especially when I don't use the old tv engine myself and MP 1.0 wont be used for ever (as MPII is already in the building stage).

Even if this will have to continue like this - i will eagerly await the final release once it gets integrated with MP or TVEngine.

Actually it has been already integrated into TVE3.
