In TV Client configuration I've enabled DVB-subtitles. However, when I first go in to watch a channel in MediaPortal, subtitles are on by default.

I'd like the option of having subtitles, but I want them to be off by default.

Only a minor thing but I couldn't find anywhere to set this.

You actually found a small bug :)

The subtitles should only be on by default if you have specified default subtitle languages. However, currently DVB bitmap subtitles are enabled regardless (it works correctly for teletext subs). I am going to take a look at that.

Ok, I will have look into this and do a small recording of the channel when it occurs again.

About the exception - I have no clue what did this. I merely stumbled upon the logs when looking for something else, and then I found this instead.

Even if you dont manage to make a recording, then i would like the logs of whenever either problem occurs.

The only problem I have is the GUI control of the subs . toggle with 'l' works fine.

You can turn them off but not back on again.

This is from the sub menu from playback in MYVIDEOS and from the 'Y' menu from either MYTV or MYVIDEO playback of files.

I'll post some clean logs later. It looks as though there is a language selection error .

I'm having trouble with teletext subtitles for TCM only. There's no problem with other teletext subtitle channels. TCM has five different subtitles and all seem to work except Swedish. Swedish characters åäöÅÄÖ are replaced by other characters like |{}. However some subtitle lines does display the special characters correctly. I've also tried MyTheatre and it has no problems with Swedish TCM.

I've uploaded a sample recording to the ftp called Katt på hett plåttak-2008-02-27-21_00.ts. Hopefully someone knows what's going on.

    Thanks

    UPDATE:

I checked the sample you uploaded. It appears that TCM finds its amusing to send some of the teletext subtitle pages using the Swedish character table and others using the German table. I have no idea why they would do this, but it explains the problem as the German character table in the subtitle decoder is not complete yet.

I will soon update the character tables that are not complete which should solve the problem.

    ---------

I have noticed this myself as well when visiting my parents (on TCM as well but with danish subs, which are problematic because of there being no danish character table in the teletext specs), there might be a problem with the swedish character table. Its very good that you uploaded a sample, it makes things so much easier for me.

However, could you perhaps tell me if its the case that for example å is always replaced with the same incorrect symbol, and perhaps post those mappings here? It makes it easier for me to debug what is going on if i know exactly what i am supposed to be seeing.

I was just wondering if ziphnor had had a chance to have a look at this

I guess it wouldn't hurt to have an option "Turn subtitles on by default" in the subtitle config section.
