NEW FEATURE: trakt.tv Discussion thread (1 Viewer)

"trakt.tv" actively keeps a record of what TV shows and movies you are watching. Based on your favorites, your friends, and the community, trakt recommends other TV shows and movies.

The trakt add-on for MediaPortal is extremely full featured and includes...

• TV Show and Movie scrobbling

• Synchronize your watched flags across multiple MediaPortal installations

• Personal TV Show Calendar

• TV Show premieres Calendar (useful to know when the next season of a show starts or to discover new shows)

• See what TV Shows / Movies are currently trending

• Personal TV Show / Movie recommendations

• Personal Movie / TV Show / Episode watch list

• Open MovingPictures details and play selected movie from watch list, recommendations, trending and friends watched history (this feature is only supported on MediaPortal 1.2 Beta)

• Open My Videos Video Info window and play selected movie from watch list, recommendations, trending and friends watched history

• Rate, add to library collection, and mark as watched on various trakt screens

• Rate and add movies/shows to watch list from OnlineVideos Trailers and My Videos / My TV Video Info dialog

• Trailer search from IMDb, iTunes or YouTube on any selected Movie (MediaPortal 1.2 Beta plus OnlineVideos must be installed)

• Customize settings like Sign in and signup...all from the GUI!

It is a nice idea to get recommendations on the base of your watched tv shows, so you have always new stuff to watch

But due to my opinion it would be nice if there would be a cooperation between movingpictures social and MyTvSeries.
The reason is nobody wants (or at least I don't want) to have multiple social places for movies/Tv series, one is far enough
It would be nice to hear some other opinions on that

And I have one more question:
Who is responsible for trakt.tv, because under the point "about us" I only find a list with "data sources"

So keep on working on that, I really love MyTvSeries, it makes my life much easier =)

I thought that marking a show/episode as "watched" in MediaPortal would change the status at trakt.tv as well but it didn't. Is this intended, or an API limitation?

As far as I know it's just an limitation for the now and will be changed later.

Please read the first post:

Please note, that this feature is still under development. As such, currently only episodes you actually watch inside MediaPortal will show up in your profile. Episodes that are merely in your collection, whether watched or not, are currently NOT synced. This will likely change in the very near future, as the site's API and this plugin evolve.

Thanks for the clarification. I just assumed that the API was unable to read already stored values for watched/unwatched so I figured that using the "mark as watched" action after being synced to trakt.tv would work. I suspected that it wouldn't work, as I began watching "V" last night on and off (stopped and resumed) and it didn't show up as "recently watched" until I actually finished the whole episode.

The Moving Pictures Social picks up movies that you manually change to "watched", but that API is custom written for Moving Pictures after all.

That scenario will work very soon. The api is just not finalised yet. There will still be a difference between "wath you actually watched" and what you mark as watched though on trakt.tv.

Agree with that, a single site/profile for both TV Series and Movies (Moving Picture) would be much better.
