Just found nvidia cuvid on the web and wondering if anyone is using it and what the experience has been? What are the advantages & dis-advantages etc?
Thanks
Hi.
I'm using it.
Disadvantages:
Works only with Nvidia
Sometimes XVid playback is not that good. So maybe you need to install XVid Codec also.
Neutral:
HDTV Playback is not better than with PowerDVD or MS Codec
Advantages:
Small package, completely free.
Works great with most Content.
Absolutely superb SDTV/DVD quality. Most of the time you can't see much difference between a DVD and HDTV (720P) But that shows also how worse most of the SDTV stuff was aired. So you be warned
I really would like to see some SDTV(Recordings)/DVD comparisson screenshots with PDVD or MS Codec in use. I found some HD comparisson screenshots and there you can't really see any difference. (even with madVR in use).
Hi.
On HDTV there is no visible difference at all...
But I don't believe you can transport the Quality via stills. There are too much things (motion detection,...) that depends on moving images during playback. And also a screen capture video did not do it as this video has to be rendered again. The only way to see this is to see it with your own eyes.
I also use it for all content. Video / TV / DVD.
Works really great with my GT430.
There still some space for improvment ( DIVX ), but i thing the author is aware of this and keeps working on it.
Hi.
First, you can easily disable DivX/XVid MP4 encoding in CUVID.
Second, Sharpness is just a single small part of the overall quality. It's useless without deblocking, deinterlacing (if any) and so on... What you can see on your screenshot is that one picture has more "sharpen edges" attached as the other. But that means nothing to see this on 1920x1080 50" LED TV. It's still really possible, the "smoother" one looks better...
The issue with XVid is not sharpness, it's stutter witch you can't see on stills.
Hi
This is a general question about OnX.
I have been using the TvWishList plugin for a while and have recently updated (update install) from MP 1.36 x86 to 1.37 x86 and found there seemed to be no Onx menu in the TV guide. I then configured the onx.presets.xml file like I would normally do with updates or fresh installs, but still...

I would have to know more details, and ultimately, I'll have to test it when I get my new display, but an AI answer I got (I don't trust AI and this may not be correct) was that HDR is encoded with the HEVC codec and I know MePo uses the HEVC codec to play 4K UHD Blue-ray discs. So, there is at least the possibility that it will work...

Does MePo 1 pass the HDR metadata, Dolby Vision, HDR10, etc., along to the display when playing 4K UHD Blu-ray discs? If not, are...
Thanks... So annoying.
I didn't notice it had stopped working and missed some recordings.
The version number still seems to be 1.7.2. Hard to tell that the file has been updated.
Sigh. I stream a lot of it now anyway.
Good question on mc2xml.exe & schedulesdirect. I donated many, many moons ago for schedulesdirect support. I...

Some of you may remember the last time MC2XML expired and quit working on Schedules Direct (why does it do that?). Anyway, it quit...
Can anyone tell me the step-by-step procedure for bringing up a second channel in pip mode? I can only do it sometimes, after many tries, and it’s not clear what I am doing that makes it work on those occasions when it does. Cannot find guidance on the site.
Thanks, N.
Again, if anyone knows how to do this, would be much...
