[OBSOLETE] Latest Test Version of MCE Replacement Plugin (1 Viewer)

Aaron, i am a 31 year old grown man, but I'm not ashamed to say that this afternoon I giggled like a school girl when the remote finally worked with SVN!

I set the blaster speed to none, which didn't work initially, but I remembered seeing somewhere to unplug and replug the MCE remote from USB and that did the trick. I did a trial of the scheduled recording and it worked , so hopefully that is working well.

Ive set up a few profiles in the advanced section of the nvidia driver, in there you can specify some hot key commands. I will try your suggestion of getting a key sending application and then just set it up to transmit those key commands. I used to use the nebula digitv software which emulated hot key commands which worked quite well, now im on the mce remote cant really use that anymore. Thank you for your response though and keep up the good work!

Serverblaster vs MCE Replacement

Aaron,
From what I understand, the MCE Replacement plugin replaces the driver for the remote which means the remote would not longer work with MCE - is that correct?

That's the reason I've been favouring the serverblaster plugin - it uses the original driver for my remote. I still use MCE 2005 because it is much more stable. But I'd like to be able to switch back and forth between MCE 2005 and MediaPortal. I haven't tried your plugin because I was afraid to mess up my MCE installation.

I have been working on improving the serverblaster plugin but from what I hear, the MCE replacement plugin is much more advanced than serverblaster. Do you think it's possible to combine the two plugins so that MCE replacement has the ability to use the original MCE driver or the replacement driver? Or did I miss something?

You missed something

The MCE Replacement Plugin does support the original driver in Windows XP.

It also, of course, supports the replacement driver. Which currently works in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista 32-bit. The replacement driver does not yet work in 64-bit XP or Vista.

As yet it does not support the original driver in Vista, but I'm working on that. Does the ServerBlaster plugin support Vista?

My TV3MceBlaster plugin (which is derived from the MCE Replacement Plugin) is made for TV Server.

Is it possible to map buttons (here; [Start]-button) to Basic Home Screen (instead of <switch home>?

I could not find this under "actions" or "window" (I did find the [home] and [second home], but none of these gave me BHS).

The code currently chooses which home screen to go to based on your choice of home screen in the MediaPortal configuration. This is in line with how the rest of MediaPortal works.

I guess I could change it, but then it would be different to the rest of MP... Is this a big deal for people?

Not a big deal - just thought it would be possible since there is a window -> [Home]-option. Using this makes sure one never accidentally get the BHS (particularly important with skins w/o BHS).

Would just make sense to have a window -> [Basic Home]-option, as well. The two-faces-of-MediaPortal sometimes can cause confusion.

I just to ditch BHS - but now it has gotten much better, so I actually prefer it. There are often links to plug-ins - rest should be covered in BHS (Psycho Reptile: Replicant's BHS, as well as the rest of this skin, ROCKS!)

Well I think I am about to give in.
I havn't even made it to blasting yet.
I can get this to work with the exception of the back button.
Nothing I do makes it work. Any clue. I have read the instructions three ways from sunday. No go...HELP

oh I should have said I was running the newest SVn..not that that has made a difference. The standard driver as I can't get the mce one to work.
At this rate I am going to format and start again.
