I'm sorry to report that I've had a series of unfortunate delays.

My router got blown up in a lightning storm, My Visual C++ Express installation got corrupted (which has slowed me down making a change to the MceIrApi) and my HTPC's hard disk crashed during an upgrade. None of these things directly effect my implementing the USB-UIRT support, but they steal time from it ...

I don't want to make excuses, but unfortunately there has been little progress on the USB-UIRT support. I have started coding it, but I don't have anything usable yet.

I promise I'll get you a test version in the next week.

    Cheers,

    Hey all,

Just announcing a new test version. No, it doesn't have Vista, 64-bit, or USB-UIRT support yet. But they are all on my to-do list.

This new test version (2007-02-22) has a new Blaster speed: None.

When set to None the blaster speed will be the default of the IR unit. This should restore compatibility for some STB's that was lost when I introduced blaster speeds.

To use None you have to set the speed to None (obviously) but you will also need to either reboot the pc or unplug and plug back in the IR box for the None setting to take effect.

USB-UIRT support for the plugin is still being worked on, and Vista & 64-Bit support will follow. I'm still downloading some Vista development tools to get this work done.

    Spangleknas:
Sorry, I looked into it but it would require me duplicating a lot of the functionality of the recording scheduler and I think it would cause more problems than it would solve at this stage. Especially now that the scheduled recording bug is back in MediaPortal SVN.

I should clarify that... Scheduled recordings will potentially crash the plugin again... It's a bug in MediaPortal that it doesn't set the card number right ... I'm looking at ways to patch this, but the TV Engine is such a complicated beast I'm not sure I understand it well enough to fix it. So I might just have to give up on multiple TV card support if this keeps up.

More news as it comes to hand,

    Cheers,

Not beeing able to control the STB for recording is a MAJOR loss.

    So:
1: When was this last possible (ver/SVN)?

2: Anybody know it the "standard" MyBlaster still manages this?

I find it very strange that team MediaPortal is leaving this feature "dead" - I would think that lots of ppl. still uses STBs.

Keep up the good work, Aaron!

I haven't used it with an STB, but did 2.1.0 support recording from STB? If so, i would greatly consider downgrading to that version.

My solution (only slightly painful) is to leave the STB on all day, and leave Mediaportal in MyTV. I then turn off the TV set and leave for the day. That works OK, but I would like to actually be able to have Mediaportal change the channel and record without actually being in MyTV. Apparently this works OK if using the built-in tuner.

Personally, most of what I record is on premium channels (soccer mostly and G4TV) that I can't get without a STB so this is a crucial function for me.

Spragleknas - apparently it was put in at the beginning of February and removed maybe a week ago? I do not know if it actually worked as the blaster speed change didn't work for me so I couldn't get MP to change channels at all, much less change them at the right time...

Again, many thanks Aaron for your hard work, it is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Aaron,

I may have a silly question... But when specifying keystronkes, how do you make a difference between Alt-F4 (to close a window) and Alt-F followed by Alt-4 (don't know why anyone would like to send this sequence...)

When I specify the keystronke I define it as %(F4) but this will won't send "close window" command but instead the sequence Alt-F+Alt-4.

I would like to use this sequence together with the MultiShortcut plugin to close the external window I have open.

How should I define a special key like F4 combined with a modifier like Alt?

    /Peter

    %F4 will send ALT-F, 4

    %(F4) will send ALT-F, ALT-4

    It should be:

    %{F4}

Notice the curly braces around "F4"?
They tell it that it's a special key.

Give that a try and let me know how you get on.

    Cheers,

    Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your feedback! When I looked closely at the help section it shows it should be {} rather than ()...

I've updated the Test Version again. I strongly recommend everyone update on account of a scheduled recording bug work-around being put in.

I've tried to work around a bug in MediaPortal that causes an exception in the plugin when a scheduled recording starts. Basically, MediaPortal is sending bogus TV Card numbers to the plugin on the tune external channel message for scheduled recordings. So if you use a Set Top Box you'll need to make sure you copy your STB settings to the first TV Card in the plugin setup to avoid this problem.

The fix I've put in uses the first TV card when MediaPortal specifies a bogus card number.

Also, I'm wondering if the "None" blast speed change I put in previously has solved any blaster incompatibility problems for anyone?

    Cheers,
