Are you using IR commands you taught the plugin yourself, or are you using one of the quick-setup options?

Sometimes when you teach commands with the replacement plugin they are not 100% accurate, so maybe try teaching them again ... Or try to get some pronto ir commands for your stb. What model is your stb?

I presume you were asking me. I taught the IR commands, I did not use the quick-setup. The STB is a Sky TV (NZ) Pace DS230NNZ.

I want to use the MCE Replacement driver and/or IR server suite with my Streamzap remote/receiver.

Is this achievable? MP works fine with the supplied streamzap driver, but I want to be able to send remote button presses to MP when it is not in focus and displayed full screen on my LCD TV.

I almost achieved this with EventGhost (thanks Patricon), but the "Special" keys on the remote wouldn't work properly e.g. EventGhost sent {p} from the play button, instead of just p, and now amount of key mapping would resolve the problem.

I know both this driver, and IR server suite can send commands to MP when out of focus, but will they work with my Streamzap? Any help in setting it up appreciated.

At the moment I don't directly support the streamzap remote, but I'll put it on the list.

What you could do is use EventGhost, Girder, or HIP to just pass the streamzap buttons presses to the MCE Replacement Plugin, IR Server Suite, or even the Message plugin.

Sorry for the slow response, I was typing my last reply when you posted yours so I didn't see it.

Try using one of the existing Sky/Pace quick setup options, if they don't work try re-teaching the IR commands to the plugin. And failing that, have a look around on the net and see if you can find Pronto IR files for the STB. RemoteCentral.com is a good place to start.

    Cheers,

Thanks Aaron, but as I said, EventGhost seems to pass "{P}" rather than "p" to MediaPortal, and so the Play Button does not work - Similar Problems with the other "special" keys.

Great to hear you will give support for my remote a try, look forward to it. GO the Swans on the weekend!

    Hi

I don't think it is a remote code issue or learning issue. I also use another STB (generic) plugged into another card and operate it with blaster. When I get the problem, they both do the same. When one works the other works. It is as though the blaster misses sending the first digit. Perhaps the CPU is very busy doing something else although it is a dedicated dual processor machine only about a year old. at the moment (touch wood) it is working but with 1 leadin zero in the channel numbers for both STB's.

Hello again. Another minor problem, I'm afraid.

I'm using the latest version of the plugin, in combination with an MCE receiver and a Harmony 688 remote, as this gives me access to more remote commands than the MCE remote.

In the Harmony config I have selected the correct MCE remote to emulate, and using the in-built MP MCE plugin everything I have tested works fine. However, if I switch to the MCE Replacement plugin, the Aspect command does nothing. All other commands work as expected, and when I compared the config files I could see no differences between the MP and Replacement plugins "Aspect" section, so it doesn't seem to be a config typo or anything like that. I have also tried deleting and recreating the command, but that didn't help.

    Any clues?

    Many thanks

    Neil

    Hey nfox,

It seems as though I've lost the code number for the Aspect Ratio button. So if you could go to the "Different Remote" section and press the Aspect Ratio button, then get the code that comes up and post it back here... I can then include it in the future. In the meantime you can map the button in the different remote section and it should work.

If you find any other buttons missing you can do the same and I'll be sure to include them.

    Cheers,

I'm currently making very big changes to the way the MCE Replacement Plugin will interact with the IR Device.

This comes from all the work I'm putting into IR Server Suite.

As soon as I have the new code working 100% in IR Server suite I will port it into MCE Replacement Plugin.

So to answer your question pisdu, with everything changing so much (and the fact I don't own a WinTV card) I can't say if it will work or not... That's where I need people to test for me :)

I'll post back when the next version is ready.

    Cheers,

    Hi John

I have a similar problem with my Virgin Samsung STB (and pretty sure this occurs with some Pace STB's too)

Apparantly what Ive found out is that the IR receiver on the STB seems to 'fall asleep' after a random period of time and it can miss the first digit from the blaster. (However, it never seems to miss the 1st digit from the STB remote...very strange?!!)

Anyway... my work-around was to transmit a pre-change command (I used the # button from my STB remote as this isnt used for anything).

This was enough to 'wake up' the STB in time for the next 3 digits to follow .

    i.e blaster sends '#' , '1' , '0' , '1' for channel 101 etc.
Ive have been using this dummy 'pre-change command' method for 12 months now and hasnt failed yet

Hope this helps (or hope this helps anybody else who is foolish like me and sticks wth this damn Samsung STB!!)

    Cheers
    Darren
