One Button Random Music? (2 Viewers)

Hi
Have you thought of some kind of weighted random playlist?
eg.
Each track in the database starts with 10 points
Add additional 10 points for each star rating
Add additional 10 points if track not played in the last week
Add additional 10 points if track not played within the last month
Then total up the number of points in the database = X
Each track is assigned numbers depending on how many points it has
Then pick random number from 0 to X
Add that track to database
Repeat picking random tracks until number of desired playlist tracks are selected
Even better would be if you could somehow scrape last.fm for all your albums and add additional 25 points if that track is listed as a top album track (ie same list as in mediaportal now playing window)
EDIT: Added a mockup, user could adjust the weighting of various factors into increasing the chance a track is picked at random. Genres button would check the database for all the genre tags in the database then provide a checkbox list.

You could also use the last.fm web api, to process the MP music database and create a local last.fm database with the following information
- last.fm track ratings
- last.fm global track playing count
- last.fm top artist tracks / top album tracks
Then use the information in this database for smart playlists

Thats a really nice mockup.... Good idea, for me I really just want to get stars in my music collection, and then I can alter how I feel about each one... Even better if I could alter from with in Mediaportal playing now.

I;m now on MP 1.1 RC1, so can't install the MPE1 files, what is the work around for this? Thanks!

browse to program files\mediaportal director
run the mpe1 installer .exe file
then choose install local extension

Hey one thing worth noting, I have my system setup so that it will select a bunch of random tracks with a star rating higher than four.... The thing is, I also have Random kick in when system is idle for five minutes... Should this not follow the same rule of nothing lower than four stars as well, as it currently stands, it just selects completely random. I think this should at least be an option.. Thanks
PS: Still looking for a program that will fill my database with stars basic on last.fm or musicbrainz...

at first I would say thank you very much for this great plugin.
Second, I have the feature request to make it possible to exclude folders.
By that way I could "say" don't play christmas-music, children-music and e.g. AC/DC.

I am experiencing crashes immediately after I press number on my remote where I have genre mapped. Music starts playing, MP is responsive but window MediaPortal has stopped working appear. I have some strange exceptions in log (attached)
I am using 1.1 RC1, Win7 x64
If I use keyboard, everything went fine. I have Zalman remote (IRTrans)

That's an IRTRans issue. Experienced that here as well. Couidn't really find an error within the IRTrans Remote module.
I ended up installing IR Server Suite and that solved my problem.

JUst wondering if it would be possible to have a option to play a single sound file once on media portal startup
and maybe return to home screen. Then after that the option the normal play music options apply..
The reason is that it would be good to have a particular startup cinema sound play once as that intro sound and then do
the normal play music or playlist after that..
If this has been requested before i do appoligise as i didnt see anything when browsing..
Otherwise a fantastic plugin excellent work..
