    If I could read the whole article without exiting MP, or having to open a browser, that would be useful. I don't get any newspapers delivered, I do catch the news on TV infrequently, I don't usually browse the news sites. If The newsfeed looks interesting enough, I might go to my office computer and read it, but I don't see any sense in exiting MP on the HTPC. For me, the RSS feed is mostly just a flashy thingy that is there because more than one user requested it, because it looks cool, I guess, and is on some other HTPC software they would like MP imitate.

    I do like having the 5 day weather forecast at a glance on the basic home.

    I'm having a strange problem with Infoservice in the Xfactor skin. I have Infoservice set to use the CNN top stories RSS feed and I've configured an image for the feed.

    I see the following in my log file which seems correct:
    Code:
    InfoService: CNN (http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss) with image: C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\News\cnn-60x24.png

    However I still see the generic CNN.com feed image and not the image I've got configured. The XFactor basichome has the following items for the feed image:
    Code:
      <textureFocus>#infoservice.feed.img</textureFocus>
      <textureNoFocus>#infoservice.feed.img</textureNoFocus>

    Any ideas?

    Hi edsche,

    Is it possible to add a new "attribute" to the InfoServie plugin available in skins? I would really like having a property like the "#infoservice.weather.today.smallweatherim" but only the image name (excluding path and extension).

    Explanation;
    * Today the "#infoservice.weather.today.smallweatherim" returns "c:\....\...\64x64\34.png
    * I would like a new attribute that only returns 34

    The reason for this is that then I can add this structure in the Animations folder and have automatic weather background matching current weatehr without having to replace all the built in MP weather icons.

    Structure in Animations;
    Animations\Weather\0\some image1.jpg
    Animations\Weather\0\some image2.jpg
    Animations\Weather\1\some image.jpg
    Animations\Weather\2\some image.jpg
    and so on...

    Is this possible?

    Thank you in advance and again thank you for this great plugin.

    Best Regards
    cul8er

    Looks like a bug, i'll fix that with a new version and add the property that cul8er requested. I already noticed the weather background from basichome in the weather screen, too.

    Btw: I've added a feed reading possibility which, i think, is the best way to read a feed. When you click on a feed item, a browser window will be open within mediaportal. At the moment it's a little bit buggy and it has no zoom option. Without a zoom option it's senseless, i think. I must look what i can do, in the next time, i'm a little bit busy at the moment. If i can't get the browser feature to work, i'll release a version with only the bugfix and property item that damaster and cul8er mentioned.

    Thanks, I really look forward to a fix! Or if you could share the source code then I'd love to be able to patch it for my own system (along with a patch for not displaying "N/A" as the weather condition).

    I've uploaded a new version (0.99) with the bugfixes and the possibility to read the whole feed. Hope it works as expected, because it was a little bit tricky :/ Because of that it's just v0.99. For now on i'll try to fix the last bugs until i'll release a stable 1.0 version

    Anyway hf with testing :p

    Just "WOW" to the new function to read the full article on the respective webpage! Now THAT IS the ultimate RSS-Feed! Big :D !

    NOW as we have this feature in MP - how about to enhance the browser part to integrate a well functioning Internet browser in MP? ;)

    Thanks catavolt :)

    There a couple of browser plugins for mediaportal, i thought?
    Btw: Found a problem with the browser. The browser will flicker if the tv is on or a video is playing. Have someone an idea ?

    Yes, there are browser plugins, but all have a lot of installation issues. The original one from MP does not function anymore (don´t know why), and the firefox plugin is horrible to set up.
    As most of the RSS sites offer google search (or similar), one can atm use the RSS browser to browse in the internet (tried it and works fine). What´s missing is the use of your own URL lists and an input field to enter desired URLs.

    I can try to make a seperate browser plugin, but i've had already problems to integrate this mini browser in mediaportal. I think you used your mouse and keyboard to surf? But many user have no mouse and keyboard on their htpc's like me, so i wan't to surf with my remote. Let's see how this is possible without edit mediaportal source ;)

    Well, currently the plugin shows the sun/moon times in user's local time. As you said, It would require to add time zone parameter to the profile. I'll try to add this option in the next version. PS: please use official thread
