I think the idea would be excellent, but the problem is that I imagine these displays use proprietary signals and display methods, like a laptop screen does.
I doubt it would be possible without a tremendous amount of work, I'm afraid.
There are now lots of cheap 7" DPF's (starting from about $70) with low resolution of 480x234. Many of them have a built-in flash memory with auto slideshow function, and a USB interface for PC connection.
Some of them can also be used as a clock / calendar display with background JPG image.
Sounds to me like an ideal external display for MP. It may be impossible to show real-time content from MP, such as video or live TV... But displaying basic information from MP, such as:
* Time and Date;
* Local weather information;
* Current playing media information such as: Song title / artist / album cover / progress bar / Playing next (for music) or Now / Next EPG for TV...
* Recording status
Should be more easily implemented...
Can this be done today? Maybe an existing plugin can be tweaked?
Or maybe an option to capture a screenshot of MP into JPG on a specific folder (the USB device folder) once or twice a second?
Should be interesting...
Result, it works on the two PC's we use for watching TV :D I've not lost anything by the looks of it either, all channels etc still setup.
Just my office PC won't connect, which I only use for testing things anyway (I tried updating that this morning as well), but I'll uninstall and install fresh on that.
PS. Exported all settings...

I tried to install MP 1.35 this morning, but I couldn't get any further with the installation on the TV server, see error message...
I don't know how others run it or have acquired the zap2xml stuff but the instructions I gave apply to anything. It is one line in the zap2xml.pl script that you need to change.
I run on Linux so I simply run the script itself (and once you change that on the next run it will be fine.) I do not know anything about a Windows...

The only configuration that is certain to work is when the MP client and MP server are from the same release.
It is sometimes possible to use MP clients from a release that is different to the MP server, but whether it works depends on the specific changes that were made between the two releases.

Hi
This is a general question about OnX.
I have been using the TvWishList plugin for a while and have recently updated (update install) from MP 1.36 x86 to 1.37 x86 and found there seemed to be no Onx menu in the TV guide. I then configured the onx.presets.xml file like I would normally do with updates or fresh installs, but still...
