Just a Bug in the code for Live TV!!!

Not sure about that - I would expect more people to be reporting this as an issue. Look, it could be a bug in LiveTV that manifests only when a whole bunch of other conditions are met (codec, graphics card, DVB card, OS patches applied, etc etc).

I'm trying to work out what settings I can change in order to remove the problem, since not everyone, especially with similar setups, is working fine.

FYI, my video codec currently in nVidia PureVideo. It seems that if I configure my graphics card to 1280x768, 60Hz, then the PureVideo decoder no longer drops frames. And playback of non-LiveTV is also smooth with no tearing. LiveTV still tears.

Hi, I have the same problem :

MP : 0.1.3.0 no cvs
Codec : mpeg2dec included
Gfx Card Geforce Fx 5200 : 50Hz @ PAL Resolution, output via composite to the TV. MP is setted to use VMR9 renderless, fullscreen and exclusive directx mode :

LiveTV => Tearing
Timeshifted TV => No Tearing

I've been trying every single days cvs but unfortunately no luck and plagued by the "no signal" error as well. I'm also losing sync with the picture/audio when tv watching as well (Even timeshifted)

I'm building a couple of pc's for clients today both using 7800gt's so I popped one in to see if it made any difference vs my 6600gt unfortunately the same tearing until TS is enabled.

Good to know it's not my little FX5200! I was wondering whether a beefed gfx card was needed...

Maybe it's an NvidiaGfx+Live-PAL-TV issue???

I will shortly be doing a rebuild from an empty OS image, so I will let everyone know how it goes...

Re: Live TV

Yes ! Yes!!! Now it´s working!!!

Find the solution in the graphic settings.. Look for Game & 3D settings..

V-Sync is the problem!!

For Matrox card.. Flip pages during vertical blanking (v-Sync) Interval

Default value :Always . unless applications override.

Change this to : Always

My TV is now perfect!!!

Let me now if it solvd your problem!!!

I'm pretty sure I have V-Sync in my NVidia drivers set to On.
laeb66, maybe you can list any other settings (eg TV de-interlace, codec de-interlace, gfx refresh rate, etc) that you are using, since it may be v-sync in combination with something else that is the magical answer!

However, I did a re-install last night, from a clean OS image (MCE2005, actually - I'm always swinging back and forth between the two...).

This is now a clean MCE2005 install, all windows updates, with nvidia MCE 72.14 drivers, plus nvidia PureVideo codec, FusionHDTV v3.0.0.1, MP v0.1.3.0.

I have not implemented yet any of the other tips (eg PCI Latency, plus other WinXP updates suggested by Frodo).

I still get tearing in live TV, but on this install I haven't updated the graphics driver to set V-Sync to ON. So, I will do that as first priority tonight when home, and report back.

The only thing a have done with PCI Latency is made from Bios set up..

Default value : Auto.

The new value: 66.00/33.00 MHz

Used codec: Dscaler MMX mode.

Looking fine with NVIDIA ( from Theatretek )
Same thing with Cyberlink..

Before a solvd this problem I put on both Video and Audio Delay for 10 ms.
This make some improvment.

Looks like MP Live-TV override V-Sync..
I gone test a Nvidia card tomorrow and se if I can find a way to lock the V-Sync.
Must be some more settings then ON or OFF.
For Matroxs it 3 way to set this. And all off them under Game & 3D

Hope this is to some help
