Re: AW: Re: AW: [New Plugin] PowerScheduler++ (New Version 1.2.0.7)

The exception does not come from PowerScheduler++, but from the MAME plugin.
Sorry for raising it in the first place

Re: AW: [New Plugin] PowerScheduler++ (New Version 1.2.0.8)

    Michael,

I have a question. The main functionality of your powerschedular++ for me is, the possibility to enter away mode and prevent standby when a recording is running and someone pushes the on/off button. (child or event)
I came accross a thing and want to know if this is normal functionality, or a bug.

The case:I use a Logitech Harmony remote to control MP and lights in my livingroom. When I go away I select the event: Everything off. So the remote will send an on/off signal to MP and a lot off lights in the livingroom.
Normally MP wil enter standby mode, so far so good.
If MP was recording a TV program it will not enter stanby, but enter away mode to keep recording the show. Great!
After 30 min the show ends so I expect MP to enter standby mode after 10 min. as set in the powerschedular++.
But if I enter the livingroom several hours later I discover that MP is still in away mode. It will not go to standby... untill I manually use the remote so away mode will end. Then after 10 min. it will enter standby.

Question:Is it normal that MP can not switch from away mode to standby mode, even if a recording ends?

    Can this problem be solved?

Thanks for all the work, I really like/need this plugin:D

There are only two ways to leave away mode:
    1. Any user action will return the system to normal system mode with display and sound on
    2. A system idle timeout will put the system directly into sleep mode
I have found no way to leave away mode by program, and as long as the system is in away mode, PS++ cannot suspend it. Therefore you should configure your system in control panel -> power settings to enter sleep mode after some idle time (10 minutes in your case), so that it will go to sleep mode by itself (which is working also in away mode - see above).

Um, how to configure shares? Dropdown menu in "Select Shares" is empty. Should i enter them manually? What name, network or disk?

If you have configured your windows power settings properly, you should check if the system is going to suspend by itself after a recording is finished:
    • uncheck the "Server forces system to enter sleep..." checkbox in PS++ config
    • start a recording
    • wait for recording to end
    • system should suspend after configured idle time (configured in control panel -> power settings)
If not, you can call "powercfg /requests" as administrator(!) to see what is preventing standby.

    Michael

Um, how to configure shares? Dropdown menu in "Select Shares" is empty. Should i enter them manually? What name, network or disk?

Format for shares in the grid is: Share name, Client name (without leading "\\"), User name

    Example:
    Code:
    ------------------------------------------
    | | Share | Client | User |
    ==========================================
    | | myfiles | mypc | myself |
    ------------------------------------------
    | | videos | mpclient | |
    ------------------------------------------
    | | C$ | | administrator |
    ------------------------------------------

Blank fields are interpreted as wildcard (like "*"), so no entry at all means "any active share". This is the default, if you do not enter any values into the grid.

You can either enter settings manually or select from a list of currently active connections (Select button). So if you have no client connecting to a local share at the moment, you will get an empty popup list. If you are not sure about what to enter manually, you should open a typical connection from your client (e.g. listen to music or watch videos stored on the server) and then use the Select button to see what active shares there are in use.

    Michael,

I tryed what you suggested and you are right. It is not entering standby then. When I used the powercfg /request it says:
    Display:
    Geen .

    Systeem:
    [DRIVER] Oude kernel-aanroeper

    Awaymode:
    Geen .
I can only remove that message at systeem by stopping the TV-Service.

    Any Idea?
