If the first video I try and play after starting MP is an existing TV recording, I get the error message:

    Unable to Play: TV Show.ts
Video codec: MPEG VIDEO VERSION 2
Audio codec: MPEG AUDIO VERSION 1 LAYER 2

Live TV and other videos work fine. However, if I start then stop either live TV or a video from my library, this resolves the issue and recorded TV shows subsequently work fine as well. Changing TV codecs in the config utility has no effect - the Microsoft DTV codecs and DScaler produce the same problem.

I just did a clean install of RC2, having been using 1.1.0 BETA without issue. Fortunately TV recording works fine, so the problem isn't critical - just annoying!

Logs are attached, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would recommend trying microsoft filters rather than MPA/MPC, and also remove all codec packs. I know this shouldn't be necessary, but it might help narrow down the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just uninstalled CCCP and retried the Microsoft codecs but the issue remains.

You could try to use filmerit to diagnose filter problems.

    Filmerit

I don't doubt that you are having a problem. I just don't think it is a mediaportal problem as such. Codec packs are a nightmare for messing up your system, which is why I avoid them like the plague.

I never had any problems with CCCP before, but I suppose it's never too late.

Anyway, I ran Filmerit as suggested and it found zero errors. I then uninstalled ReClock just in case, and used Filmerit to clean up the 2 redundant registry entries it left behind. No effect on mediaportal.

Perhaps reinstalling RC2 after the recent changes might help.

    Thanks again.

I've seen this once or twice on my RC2 setup too with the same error:
    Code:
2010-04-15 15:40:58.323200 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: TSReaderPlayer: Exception while creating DShow graph Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {B9559486-E1BB-45D3-A2A2-9A7AFE49B23F} failed due to the following error: 800700c1.
The component referred to is TsReader, but I cannot understand if it is a code issue or installation issue. Also I have not found a definite description of the error code (800700c1).

    I'll investigate further.

I have exactly the same problem since RC2. To solve this i've to start LiveTV first - then i can start looking video files (ts files)

If had the same codec error when 'playing' H.264 and .m2t video files after installing RC1. Just deinstalled all codec packages and removed mediaportal complete (with all history files\settings\etc) and did a fresh installation of RC2.
In both RC1 and RC2 I did not install the TV part.

It looks like it's using that TV part for loading\initializing the required codecs.. (In VLC everything is playing fine)
