AW: Problems with dropping frames with EVR

My System is a multiseat system but the dropped frames are on singleseat too.
i have a lot of dropped frames on all of my systems with the latest svn versions (ONLY h264 1920x1080 channels like Anixe HD and Servus TV). It is not possible to look.

My question is why it runs without dropped frames hmm with earlyer version 24669 for example. i dont understand this.

My clients and server so i think for me has enough power. Pentium Dualcore E5200 (Grafik=GF9400), E6300 (Grafik=GF9300), CoreI3 540 (Grafik=Inside CPU) . All Sytems with 4GB Memory and 500GB 2,5" Harddisks and one of the system with an SSD.
Gigabit Ethernet. TV Cards = 2 * Digital Devices PCI-E Dual Cards.

So i hope for the future that i can use my systems for mediaportal again.

What are now the minimum hardware requirements to look h264 without dropped frames ?

48core AMD Magny Cours system for around $20k? Just kidding. Dropping of frames doesn't come from HW requirements not being met. It's software related. Just wait it's fixed somewhere in next releases. We all have to.

For Mediaportal and watching 1080i HDTV streams I would recommend a discrete graphics card. The gui of Mediaportal is slowing down the video output to much, so onboard-graphics are a no-go if you want to use Mediaportal. I just bought a Radeon 5450 recently and my performance problems with Mediaportal are now all solved.

this is much more then just fixing... there are many unknown things out there on every machine out there... OS Version, used Codecs, drivers, other installed software, for LiveTV the TVCard and the signal and many more....

the devs just can test things and then release. if users have problems, they post them. devs are going to look into those problems and try to solve it. For the "dropping frames", there was made an extra thread with a poll. but if there is no response of the users, the devs have make a decision.

    dyamant:
i also have the problem, that SVN's before 246xx had much better playback function than the current ones. But hey, MP is growing and improving in many ways from every SVN to the next and many people try to solve problems that occur during growing.

    EDIT:
ok... this could be weird... but i had the problem, that i had more dropped frames when setting mediaportal to priority high... what about setting it on lowest...?! will give this a try in few minutes...

Set the priority to normal. "High" and "Highest" can really cause stutter (my experience).

    tourettes:
but not everybody knows this... some people may think "oh hey... setting MP to highest will improve things, because it has more priority."
and everybody is trying some buttons and checkboxes... don't get me wrong, sometimes i also use some checkboxes, forget them and wonder why things behave other. double checking / telling is better than once ;)

Yes. But that was with a 1080P H264-video which was software-decoded. So the 5450 was not stressed in that case. Setting the priority to "normal" I always get stutter-free playback.

ok... some devs might say/think "this has no influence on playback...".

i changed the priority of MP (in its configuration) to "BelowNormal" and guess. It feels like being more smooth and stable (in this fps thing). I haven't done a long term run, but perhaps it helps other users... worth a try ;)
