dl-count is increased for the specific file. 'Hits' are just increased when viewing the repo-page.

So, just to be sure: when installed with the Mediaportal Extension Installer, as well as when clicking on the url of one of the mpe1 files, the downloadcount is increased?
F.e. on https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/movies-videos/onlinevideos

Just checked, and indeed, the count increases when downloaded in any way

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
