OK, it may be that most of my videos are in sync to begin with (that is, there's nothing wrong with the mux), but my audio/video sync definitely gets messed up somewhere along the way. It would be easier to correct sync if I had a shorter video clip showing something where it's easy to read the sync. For me it's hard to try to adjust it watching dialogue. It's easier with something repetitive and snappy (like the knocking on a door) but it's hard to find such a segment in a full length movie.

This can be caused by:
-really bad muxed video
-slow CPU
-bug in player (can be related?)

Try different player, like MPC-HC...

I have never given the cause of this much thought actually, for me it has been a constant which I have taken for granted :) As to your suggestions:

- Really bad mux: I don't think so, it is consistent for all videos of the same type (all 23.976fps h.264 videos are the same, all TV is the same etc)
- Really slow CPU: Not really, my C2D E6550 at 2.33GHz isn't the fastest but the sync issue exists with active DXVA as well
- Bug in player: That would be my bet, I'll try with MPC-HC and report back!

I really like the fact that you integrated AC3Filter.
Now yesterday i stumbled upon a problem with AAC 5.1 audio through spdif
It does not work with AC3Filter from what i have seen.
For it to work you need in MP configuration to select ffdshow for AAC audio
Then in FFdshow audio config, disable the mixer and select SPDIF passthrough in Output. I also chose 24bit for output.
Doing that you will have AAC 5.1 SPDIF.
On the we you can also find that you need to enable AC3 encoding in AC3Filter.

maybe that should be added to saf is others can confirm.

I'd imagine that 6Ch AAC should be decoded by ffdshow and re-encoded into AC3 and passed through as SPDIF
Movie -> FFDSHOW -> Directsound device?

    Television - no Cyberlink option

    RE SAF400RC1.exe

    Hi Hoborg

I have installed haali and Powerdvd9.1719a(bdtrial)__DVD090629-17.exe

Installer says clvsd.ax is out of date - dont understand as I just downloaded and extracted it from the executable via cyberlink site

In tvserver config under TELEVISION, H.264 Video Decoder, there is no Cyberlink option -- only ffdshow, mainconcept and MPC

This issue does not arise in DVD config, which has Cyberlink as an option in H.264

I double checked the install on my Brother in Law's PC (which I am installing MP on also) and it does the same thing. (No Cyberlink for H.264 in TV)

Please advise if there is a way to configure Cyberlink in H.264 for TV, or, if not, which other decoder I should select. I understand you are in the process of integrating ffdshow with SAF, and I am following the instructions on the initial post of this thread. Sorry if I have missed something :)

    Thankyou

    Reinstall *unlocked* SAF.

I was able to add suport for Win7 DE version to unlock prefered decoders, more to come :)

    Hi,

Having a little trouble with SAF Beta 15 *unlocked*.

AC3Filter, even when ffdshow audio is selected in MP Config, will be decoding. Merit is prefer other decoder.

Tried uninstalling SAF, restarting and installing. I don't believe it was a problem until I tried AC3Filter over ffdshow in config, now I can't revert back.

If you need logs, or whatever, tell me what you need. Currently, I've tried TV and Videos and AC3 sources are using AC3Filter.

P.S. There is a spelling error in the Installer. Passthrough is spelled incorrectly.

I'm seeing that too. For h.264 material I want AC3Filter, but for DVDs I thought I was going to use ffdshow audio. However, despite what I select for DVDs it is always AC3Filter that's doing the decoding.

I couldn't see this in the first few posts - could someone explain the difference between locked and unlocked, and what it means? When I installed it, it says locked... how do I unlock it?

I'm trying to get BBC HD working on my upstairs PC and was just getting a black screen. After installing SAF I get a picture but the sound and video are very out of sync (several seconds), the video is jerky and not hardware accelerated.

S.O.P -> did u know that if you edit the merit value of directshow filters you have to relogin for changes to take effect.

jmbillings: the main difference is that unlocked saf contains an additional codec for live h264 tv, i don't believe any more detailed explanation than that will be given in the public forums.
