hoborg: yesterday my wive could not play the mpeg files i created from DV tapes. It just hangs and after minute comes with a popup. Cannot play etc. Audio codec mp2a and Video codec: mp2v. I know this is maybe too less to analyse, and have to investigate it better, but do you have an idea? It should be mpeg2 and that is possible to play with SAF right?

    EDIT:
BTW - did you tryed to mux your video to MKV using MKVmerge? This will mostly fix lot of problems.

I think this is a simple question.
For audio output i use SPDIF, but if i change to HDMI i don't have sound.
Is there a way to confire my audio output to HDMI passthrough ? Is there any advantage? beside less cables.

mackey: Thanks for the tip, the problem is gone when i switch to EVR but the perfomance is horable. I got tearing effects and so on :-(!

    OH MY GOD.

First I thought you were a big fat lier, I've been on Vista and Windows 7; both had their issues. On Vista my blacks where gray on Windows 7 my videos runned choppy. I did got around some issues with the use of Reclock. So I jumped on the wagon installed the old XP, followed your guide to the letter and what the hell! Everything runs smooth like butter. Colours are vivid and great, blacks are truly black and even the movie seeking is instant without choppiness of retracing the audio. Even DTS and AC3 works great with only FFdshow as audio codec.

I can only say: Thank you man, thanks allot.

ps: SAF said I didn't had the latest PowerDVD filter but I downloaded the latest available trail I could get, how is it possible to get a newer version of the filter?

wouter1971: Are You running MP in a non-admin account? If yes, then try it in the admin account. I have a similar issue which I can't explain until now.

It is the use of VMR9 that causes the GUI issues. VMR9 is not supported anylonger by MP, so EVR is the only choice if you want to avoid these. Which resolution are you using? I used to run 1920x1080 but have to switch down to 1280x720 to use EVR with proper results. If I go for EVR in 1920x1080 the video is also tearing and looses approx. 35 percent of frames.
