SO, I think now all is good with this beta19. Am I correct? :D

Thanks man, you did an good job here.
And what about sound, it is good?

I had an idea

You might be able to avoid post processing using ffdshow audio
what if you unregister qasf.dll and remove ffdshow audio from post processing
then enable WMA 7/8/9 in ffdshow codec settings (you might also need to add uncompressed not sure)
and let ffdshow handle the multichannel wma
will this work?
if this doesn't work then use above but re-register qasf.dll

I can't test this because i don't have multichannel audio within wmv file

WMA 7/8/9 in ffdshow doesnot work with "WMA 6CH 48000hz - The Dark Knight 2008.wmv" sample, DMO decoder needs to be in use.

Why are you resampling 44100 -> 48000 , what is the problem/disavantage with leaving it as 44100?

EDIT: Perhaps a different ASF (aka WMV) Reader/Splitter is needed? otherwise will just have to stick to having a post processing audio option enabled

FFDshow audio AC3 encoder only support 32 or 48khz, so 44.1khz needs do be resampled to 48khz to be passthrough.

I still need to test this. Will be today, but I dont know when.
For the time being, I will keep beta19. As it works now. So I can test other things easilly. :)

THanks Hoborg for the work here.

Regarding the WMAudio Decoder DMO. If you search for it in google, you get numerous hits about it with the error we see here. If what I read about it (dating from 2005) is still true, than it is some kind of downsampling which is automatically done.

I just found out there is an option inside WMO decoder if you connect to it with the graphstudio. "High Resolution Output".
What do you think this does? I tried it (quick try), but didnt see a difference.

Ed.

Hm, i got problem with MP now and looks like i cannot found solution.
For some reason "MediaPortal Configuration" starts to crash in "Adding audio filters..." part on my dev. machine.
I did complete reinstall on MP, all from MP was deleted.
No problems in Graphstudio with filters.

    Hi everyone,

I've been using your excellent codec compilation for a while now...one thing that always troubled me but could be completely normal:

when connecting to the filter graph I always have additional filters lying around (like copies of the ones used) which are not connected to anything. One the screenshots provided in this thread I never saw such filters. Do you guys move them out of the screenshot or is there something wrong with my setup? I can gladly provide screenshots if that would help...

    thanks

You can notice such "problem" when watching LiveTV, both Cyberlink mpeg-2 decoder + Cyberlink h.264 will be added to graph, but only one will be connected.
This is bacouse TS reader do not known what is inside stream when creating graph.
You sould not care about that, it is not problem.

Hm, i got problem with MP now and looks like i cannot found solution........
Maybe you can try reinstalling the DirectX part.

Hmm, i didnt found this option anywhere...

    BTW, here is SAF B19test2

If you open GraphStudio, and render the WMV (Dark Knight) file, the WMAudio Decoder DMO is there (in green)
Rightclick the filter and you will see some tabs. One of them contains the checkbox I talked about.
Question is, what does it do? :)

Ill try the beta2 tonight. Can you tell me what is the change? What should have been changed?

Yes, i noticed that already. Checkbox is not remembered, so it looks like it does nothing.
Wierd think is if i open WMV 5.1 sample in MPC player, i got 5.1, but if opened in Graphstudio, DMO only output in stereo. Same graph is in use. I have no idea how this should work...
    SAF_VIDEO_configuration.png

BTW, in MP configuration, there is option to enable 5.1 in WMV, but i cannot try it right now, becouse crash of MP o my dev pc here metioned above :(

Test2 - i fixed bugs founded in test1, WMV will works now. Check changelog.

So if you add FFDShow audio decoder to MP postprocessing, now all your samples should work. Please test audio quality of some DVD too, if audio is glitch free, and if it is in sync with video.

    Thanks for the quick replies!

Another problem that still persists and that I can't really pinpoint:

I used to use reclock with my former lcd tv due to the tv having bad 24p pulldown, which worked fine but gave me some problems with vsync in MP.

Now with my new TV 24p is fine using the refresh rate changing mechanisms of MP. Videos are very smooth, once in a while (about every 20-60 secs.) a stuttering is visible (image hanging for a short while). It is barely noticable but since I am very paranoid about image quality it is kind of a nuisance. I am still trying to rule out what's going on (using Vista + EVR + latest SAF), have tried to disable TVService, looked at network traffic (I am streaming from a QNAP device) but couldn't find any clue yet. Has anybody had similar problems and could provide hints?

    thanks

    taalas
