the other suggestion is. I'm not sure about the latest SAF, but previously it gave you two choices for which codec you wanted to use for divx/xvid decoding (lower quality = MPCVideoDec vs' higher quality = ?something else?), i had a lot of problems with the 2nd choice, the other was fine.

I recently installed the latest version, I had no problems with AC3Filter but wanted to try the deactivated MS DMO Codecs in Windows 7.
Now I have a problem while playing (hd) files --> after a random amounts of time (constantly in intervals of ~30s) there are minor sound hickups (very short, like 0.5seconds). I configured everything as described in the first post (ffdshow as audio codec, Passthrough enabled, Postprocessing filter added).
Does anyone have a similar problem and maybe already found a solution?

Furthermore, how do I get WMV to play in MediaPortal with beta20 ? If I launch MyTrailers and switch to GameTrailers I can choose a trailer, but by clicking it nothing happens (not even a blank screen or something, so I can't use GraphStudio)

Everything is ok except my Mkv movies have a green screen. I can see the picture but it is green. Would you have a suggestion?

I have a problem where avi files will not play correctly in Media Portal. I just get audio and a frozen screen of artifacts of what I assume to be the first frame. Any video in MKV and the 5 I have in MP4 work fine. All videos play correctly in MPC-HC. I also have another computer with the same versions of Media Portal and SAF installed, and all the videos play fine. I have tried searching for a couple of hours, most threads seem to be about people having trouble with HD video playback. My HD videos work fantastic, the old DIVX and XVID files do not. Dare to be different. Anyone got any ideas about what could be going wrong?

The problem can be really old AVI format. If you are using latest SAF, there is DSmux in START - SAF - TOOLS. Try to mux AVI to MKV here to fix compatibility.

And are you able to play wmv from local disk?

Hoborg - does MPC-HC have to have file type associations when SAF installs? Not a big drama, but I often uninstall/reinstall SAF (when I install latest SVN etc), and MPC-HC takes over my file associates instead of WMP (just easier to have that as default for my noob flatmates, if they aren't in MediaPortal for whatever reason).

You can re-asociate all format to WMP - there is option for this in WMP.

I got report C'n'Q causing troubles, so try it and if all will be OK, then keep it ON.

one theory for disabling cnq is that it alters the FSB speed which would affect the onboard video's access to shared ram, however this is incorrect because cnq alters the cpu multiplier which should have no effect on the onboard video/hardware acceleration. I think the correct theory is that if the system lowers the cpu multiplier too low and suddenly a process in the background needs more cpu time then the cpu useage will briefly hit 100% which will affect the foreground application (ie mediaportal) causing a brief stutter in the video.

Sounds logical. Just to add a bit to this RMClock's power management is better then the default that comes with XP, I do not know about vista and/or win 7.
It might help with the stutter. You can adjust some settings in RMClock to decide when it should throttle up/down

While the theory about CnQ might hold true I can confirm that disabling it didn't solve occasional stutters on my system
