No I'm 100% serious. I know a lot of people that agree with me.
Do you like the win95 feel of MPC HC then? I'd rather have a slick GUI if possible.
Besides that I have not seen any player that has a good support for both Audio and Video like WMP does (well sarcasm, good is maybe not the word, just support ;)).
Yeah sure winamp can do both but video playback is a b*tch on that one.
MPC-HC is mainly intended for video.

There's just no alternative for what WMP offers imo. At least I have not seen it yet.

You like it? Then use it. I am not "hardcore" enought to do the same :)

Personaly i prefer speed over "gui" .

The reason why you have problem in WMP with AC3 can be related to disabled microsoft audio decoder by SAF install (causing problems).

BTW: I am not a programer, my coding knowledge ends somewhere on PASCAL :)

That did not help but thanks for thinking with me.
I guess the whole player thing is really about personal preference. I've had my share of trouble with WMP but till now I always solved every single issue I had, most of the time it's not too hard to get there, I feel like it's a sport for some people; MS bashing! Not that I say hoborg's on that team.
But enough with all that, I'll just play this file with some other app if I want to see it (probably MP which works fine too btw)

Playing around with Graphstudio I just noticed something. I had set the audio renderer for TV to something like "Speakers: Directsound etc" in order to avoid using Reclock. I have heard before that Reclock produces stutter in live TV and that's something I want to avoid.

When I put TV on and look at the properties of the audio renderer in Graphstudio though, I see that it's actually Reclock doing the rendering anyway. Depending on if I choose any of all the different Waveout, Directsound etc, different Reclock files seem to become activated (ReclockWV, ReclockDS or something like that) but I can't avoid Reclock.

How does this work for you other guys, have you succeeded in domesticating Reclock into only taking care of what you want?

Look for config in ReClock where it says something like "force reclock to be loaded..." and "set reclock as preferred..." and uncheck.

I have a problem where avi files will not play correctly in Media Portal. I just get audio and a frozen screen of artifacts of what I assume to be the first frame. Any video in MKV and the 5 I have in MP4 work fine. All videos play correctly in MPC-HC. I also have another computer with the same versions of Media Portal and SAF installed, and all the videos play fine. I have tried searching for a couple of hours, most threads seem to be about people having trouble with HD video playback. My HD videos work fantastic, the old DIVX and XVID files do not. Dare to be different. Anyone got any ideas about what could be going wrong?

Hoborg - does MPC-HC have to have file type associations when SAF installs? Not a big drama, but I often uninstall/reinstall SAF (when I install latest SVN etc), and MPC-HC takes over my file associates instead of WMP (just easier to have that as default for my noob flatmates, if they aren't in MediaPortal for whatever reason).
