I would like to say thanks for all of your work but I am currently having problems. For some reason after a reinstall I am having issues using hardware acceleration. I have tried SAF 304 and Powerdvd 8 and with all 1080p content I get stuttering of the audio and video. It will play properly for a few minutes but then will stutter an go out of sync. I am using a ATI 4350 video card with the Catalyst 10 Hotfix drivers. I don't know if its a driver or codec issue but I would like to help. The card is supposed to work perfectly with 1080p decoding and its disappointing that I cant get it to work. I am currently using CoreAVC and it works great but would like to get hardware acceleration working. Let me know what info if any you need or any tips to get it working.

I've also tried the catalyst 8.10 drivers and I'll second what Hoborg mentioned, you need to go back to 8.5. That'll fix most of your issues.

Run SAF instalation again.

I definitely wouldn't go back to 8.5 catalyst as others suggested since the 4350 has only just come out and 8.5 is a pretty old driver now- have you tried 8.11 (don't forget to run ati driver uninstall in add/remove programs first)?

A long shot, but if the content is using MPEG/AC3/DTS audio, try using 'ac3filter' (AC3Filter) as the audio decoder - I was getting various stuttering/freezing problems viewing live TV with an ATi 3450 and hardware acceleration until I switched to ac3filter.

Unless ATI fixed the dvxa problems with their drivers, I would use 8.5. That's what I'm using and it's working great. It's well known they broke dvxa as of 8.6. If someone can verify that 8.11 doesn't suffer the same dvxa problems let me know! I'd love to upgrade!

It is true that 8.6 and 8.7 were bad and broke DXVA amongst other things, but from what I have read on the subject (a lot) most of the problems were fixed by 8.8. I'm using 8.10 here and DXVA works perfectly on MPC-HC with h.264 or VC-1.

Are you able to play it correctly under XP with Catalyst 8.6+?

It might be worth trying ReClock as the audio renderer.

I just installed 8.11 and that seems to be working fine. I have 6 movies that need to be re-encoded and the same 6 movies don't do dxva in 8.11 versus 8.5. Everything else seems to play fine with dxva in 8.11. cool! I don't think I have anything with VC1 video though.

I will also add that I tested my setup with the 8.10 hotfix drivers and dxva DID NOT work. Thanks.
