Well, I guess this is the definitive reason for me to not use DXVA and instead stay with my 720p movies untill I either can by a CPU powerfull enough to handle 1080p (which my sort of can already so I might try some movies and see if sound get´s out of sync or something). Or if someone makes the mkv-subtitle suport bulit in in MediaPortal. I don´t want to use an external program for playback since I´d like to controll everything from inside MediaPortal with my remote.

I will still use the MPC-filter thou (but not with DXVA) since I found it much better than ffdshow or CoreAVC for that matter. Is there perhaps a way to install only the MPC-filter (and VS-filter also I think).?

Like I said before, a 5000+ and 780G should be absolutely fine for playing 1080p, there really is no problem on that issue. Even with 1080i and high bitrate I get only get 40-60% usage. You really shouldn't pay much attention to that killer sample as one, it is badly encoded so doesn't work with DXVA and two, it has a bitrate of 33MBps, almost double that of most blu rays. You could control MPC-HC as an external player using a remote (and everything else on your PC) with Eventghost.

I am having the same issues as this henk99 with hd playback using SAF. I will get stuttering DTS audio that will go badly out of snyc. I have tried using MPA and AC3 filter with the same result. If I use CoreAVC playback is fine. I am using an ATI 4350 for video and spdif for audio. I am stuck using the 8.10 hotfix drivers because no other versions support this card. I have tested HW Acceleration using MPC-HC on my setup and it works fine with 2-3% cpu usage. The playback issues are only in MP.

When testing my htpc system with the TV and Receiver, I came across some strange DTS problems.

Some mkv movies with DTS have a strange stuttering sound, while other files with, apparently the same DTS track don't have it, and have normal sound. When looking at the audio properties of both good and bad files, they are a match.

Both of them show in the properties:
DTS 48000Hz 6ch [Audio]

So, I can't find any difference between them. Why is the sound playback good or bad then? Is it decoded badly? I think I have all settings correct, especially as some DTS files are fine....
I have tried MPA, Cyberlink 7.x but found no difference.

BTW...Sound is going through the optical output SPDIF of my Gigabyte GA-MA78 mobo to the receiver.

you'll definately have problems with the 8.10 drivers. I've tried and you won't be able to get them to work. CoreAVC works because it doesn't use DXVA. Run the file in question and take a snapshot of the graph in Graphstudio, do that for both MPC and MP and compare the results. Something may be misconfigured in MP. OR... the file isn't encoded properly to support DXVA. If you use mkvmergegui to create a small sample of the file we can all test it and see. If it is the file you'll need to re-encode it before it'll work.

jo16v I am using a AMD X2 3800 and can play 1080p content fine using CoreAVC to do the decoding. It is a very efficient software decoder and if you are currently having issues you should check it out.

Just installed the latest version with the PowerDVD codec... very nice, looking good!

After this installation suddenly the flashing background is back in the EPG screen... or at least when TV is small in the left down corner. Strange!

If you're getting different results in MP vs MPC the only explanation is that different filters are being loaded. You should see that when you check the graphs. Let us know what you find!

Maybe the flickering is side efect of enabled Mpeg2 DXVA?

Use Ac3 Filter..
i had the same problems.
Now evrything sounds great.
im on Spdif! out to my receiver..
