By the way, I tried changing from Direct Sound to Wave whatever in AC3Filter, but it didn't make any difference. There has to be something else that has changed between the RC and these betas. I haven't changed anything else. When I reverted back to the RC it worked normally again, and then installing beta 15 screwed it up the same way beta 14 did. There has to be something other that codec settings that is making the difference, right?

i can confirm that it is not the directsound setting in ac3filter.
Yesterday i installed the latest ac3 filter manual and it solved the problem.

now i installed beta15 and again wmv sound was messed up.
i reinstalled the ac3filter mannually and it is ok again

so it seems a problem with the ac3filter used in saf

SAF usinf las awailable AC3 flter.
Can be different preset AC3 filter setting VS SAF settings.
Please compre both, locate what needs to be enabled/disabled so i can modify SAF to fix it.

My tip - in AC3 settings Mixer - auto matrix

My recommendations/tips:
Use Windows XP SP3 instead of VISTA becouse:
- XP are much, much faster then Vista
- you can modify XP and hide all "windows" messages, boot screen, etc
- DXVA working great under XP
- DXVA + DVD navigation (highlighted buttons) works only under XP (does not work on Vista or Win7) - by other words XP is best OS for DVD playback. (EVR problem related i think)
- for best MPEG-2 video quality on ATI, enable "Edge enhancement and de-noise" and move sliders to "1"

What is the difference, for example, between:

• Disabled
• Enabled - Both set to 1
• Enabled - Both set to 0

Just look and see. 1 enables filter. It is only working when DXVA is ON. If you move slider to default value, you can notice "ghosting" in image. move to max to see how image was changed.

Is DXVA working if they are disabled/enabled but set to 0?

Hoborg: That's interesting, I just enabled those filters and set them to 1, can't say for sure that I'm seeing a difference though.

Another question: I bet I'm not the only one having to adjust audio-video sync myself. When I do this I usually make an initial adjustment, then look at some video with a lot of speech and try to see if I'm before or behind, then go back to adjust the delay and so on. One thing that would make this process a lot easier would be a standardised video clip with confirmed perfect sync to begin with, that depicts something where it is really easy to judge the sync position ( a hammer banging a board or similar). Does anybody have such a clip in h/x.264 format?

It is like DXVA hardware postprocessing...

What? I didnt understand this, all samples i have are already in sync...
If you have such wrong muxed video with desync, you should fix it in MKV merge by ading audio delay (+/-)
