Dont trust dxva checker 100%. It is a good indication. Reason: Sometimes it doesnt report dxva for a type of file, but I can clearly see the cpu usage below 9% when playing h264 720p. So there must be some dxva going on. I think it pulls this information from an entry out of the drivers of the gpu.

1. With Windows XP SP3 i stayed with Catalyst 9.6 and DXVA worked like a charm! You also should try this version... For further dxva-problems i recommend you to google for "DXVA Checker"...

I downloaded this (DXVA Checker), and it seems to suggest that I can only get DXVA with my Geforce 9400 in 1920x1080. Have I missed something? Do I have to use that resolution to get hardware acceleration, or will my (resized to fit the screen) 720p still work?

If a certain resolution is required for this to work, then perhaps this should be mentioned in the first post?

since I am having HDMI issues with my current HD3200 onboard graphics (latest trouble here - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/loosing-hdmi-connection-76525/ has anyone seen this before?) I am looking for a replacement card. Should be a passively cooled card and work well with SAF (I guess both Ati and Nvidia will do DXVA fine but I want to make sure).

Do you have any suggestions?

Is it possible to combine Coreavc with CUDA into SAF as option (if available) ?
As far as i know:
1) Coreavc 2.0 supports x86 and x64.
2) Coreavc does only raw h264/x264/avc1-decoding (link)
and ffdshow and mpc-hc can do postprocessing / enhance picturequality.

I'm trying hard to understand, but is it not useful to first use Coreavc with CUDA (if available) for raw decoding and do postprocessing / enhance PQ by ffdshow / mpc-hc ?

One thing is not clear to me...
How can i enhance PQ if SAF installs only the mpc-hc codecs? I guess that mpc-hc is not be installed and that i can't enhance PQ. Am I right?

Media Portal is x86 application, x64 decoders cannot be used in x86 applications.
And postprocesing for HD video? Can you tell me why?

MPC-HC player can do "postprocessing" by shaders, it is used mostly for resizing, but that is player who do it, not video decoder - by other words, MPC video decoder cannot do postprocessing itself.

~3GHz CPU (1 core) is capable to decode FullHD video at fulls speed, but it have not enought juice to decode + do postprocessing...

But still the question - why do postprocessing for HD video?

i would not recommend using coreavc 2.0. it still has the "no cuda when fullscreen" bug. you have to start MP in window mode and than change to fullscreen, otherwise you do not have cuda support.

You are absolutely right. Postprocessing is not necessary for HD-video. It should be perfect from the source.
So... deband, Sharpen and Blur&NR are also not necessary in ffdshow?

Found on internet:
In ffdshow video config --> Codecs --> H.264/AVC --> disabled. and Codecs --> Raw video --> all supported

CoreAVC 2.0 requires at least 191.07 as stated in the installation dialog.
