Hello,

Just got a Digital Devices Octopus NET rack network tuner. When scanning in mediaportal with the attached .m3u file it creates a lot of duplicate channels. What could be wrong?

Regards
Jacob

    Hi Jacob

When scanning in mediaportal with the attached .m3u file it creates a lot of duplicate channels.
Yes, I would expect that, given the contents of the m3u file.

    What could be wrong?
    The URLs. ;)

They all contain the DVB Service Description Table PID. Therefore all channels for the corresponding transmitter will be found each time you scan one transmitter.

    Example:
    #EXTINF:0,1. ARD - ARD/Das Erste
    rtsp://192.168.100.111:554/?freq=250&msys=dvbc&sr=6875&mtype=256qam&pids=0,16,17,18,20,100,101,102,103,106,105,104

The channels that will be found are all channels on the same transmitter (for DVB-C, frequency):
    • 1. ARD - ARD/Das Erste
    • 101. Borch Teknik - dk4 HD
    • 801. Folketinget - FOLKETINGET HD
    • 901. GLOBECAST - France 24
    • 1301. Nordjyske Medier - 24Nordjyske HD
    • 1701. Radio - Teracom - DR-Nyheder
    • 1804. Radio - Waoo - NRK mP3
    • 2903. Waoo - DR Ultra
    • 3001. ZDFvision - ZDF
(You can see this by checking all the channels with "freq=250" in the URL.)

...but actually only the original/target channel (1. ARD - ARD/Das Erste) will work.

To fix, remove the SDT PID (17) from the PID list in each URL.

    Example:
    rtsp://192.168.100.111:554/?freq=250&msys=dvbc&sr=6875&mtype=256qam&pids=0,16,17,18,20,100,101,102,103,106,105,104

    ...should be changed to...
    rtsp://192.168.100.111:554/?freq=250&msys=dvbc&sr=6875&mtype=256qam&pids=0,16,18,20,100,101,102,103,106,105,104

P.S. You can edit m3u files in any text editor (notepad, wordpad etc.).

    Hi @mm1352000

I finally got back to this. I removed all ",17" in each url and tried scanning again but unfortunately this does not make a difference. Its still creating duplicates.

    Have I misunderstood your directions?

    Regards
    Jacob

UPDATE: nevermind. apparently i did not manage to save the file i edited before scanning :)

Perhaps... Only way to confirm would be for me to invest in a different USB DVB-S2 tuner (like the Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-S2), which I might do if the issue persists.
